Re: Schrade Old Timer Stockman 8OT wanted
Wolf, send a PM to TripleF here on AAPK (Scott). He deals in affordable USA made knives. Recently he listed a Frontier Stockman, a knife made for Imperial by Schrade (it is essentially a cosmetically different Schrade Stockman of the type you want). Scott is a great guy to deal with, I have dealt with him several times, in fact I have a old Hammer Brand knife coming to me from him right now. By the way, welcome to AAPK. OH

Re: Schrade Old Timer Stockman 8OT wanted
Wolf (Chris) Attached is a picture of a Frontier 3-3/8" stockman that I have just started (back) whittling with - I understand the knife to be virtually the same as the Schrade Old Timer 34OT. Obviously the Delrin handles are jigged instead of being sawcut and the Frontier knife has a blade swedge, which my 34OT's lack, but other than that the knives are basically the same - Swindin key construction as build by Schrade in the USA. The steel is carbon, takes a wonderful edge quickly and keeps the edge well. I bought this one at a pawn shop - it wouldn't snap at all - dirty as hell, crusty with grit and gunk - but I flushed it well with aerosol G96 gun cleaner and it started snapping again and getting smooth. The Frontier are very good knives - equal to the Schrade Old Timers. By the way, Scott (TripleF) has a 4" Schrade scrimshaw (just like an Old Timer, but with different scales) on e-bay for a decent price right now. Good luck in your quest - these are plentiful knives to find, just be patient. Old Hunter
