Hi guys,
Just curious. What is the difference between an equal end or senator pattern? I thought it might be the size of the bolsters, Long bolsters= equal end, short bolsters or "tips"= senator. But then I seen long bolsters described as a senator. Some one please help me. It's one of those need to know things.
Thanks, Skip

Hi Skip,
To the best of my knowlege…
I think all senator pens are equal-end pens, but not all equal end pens are senator pens. Kind of a sub-species thing... Like a Robin is a bird, but a bird is not always a Robin.
My idea of a senator pen is any pen knife that has same sized and shaped rounded ends accompanied by a narrow middle that does not taper or baloon out. Kind of like a rectangle with two identical ends attached to each side…
An example of an equal end pen that is not a senator pen would be a cigar pen. They have equal ends, but they baloon out in the middle, which disqualifies them as senator pens in my opinion.
This is my understanding of it, but as always... I could be wrong. It sounds good though. You gotta give me that
