what the differance between fighting rooster and Hen and rooster knives

Fight'n Roosters were the brainchild of Frank Buster of Tennessee,
Hen and Rooster have no affiliation but I don't know who started the line or when. Want to say Jim Frost currently but how far back, dont know. I'm sure someone will come along to help.

Frank Buster has been selling knives by way of Jim Parker since the early 70s. He started importing his Fight'n Rooster line in 1977 or 78, selling them mostly through Parker-Frost Cutlery and PKCS.

Hen & Rooster knives were originally produced by Carl Bertram Reinh Sohne, starting in 1865. In 1975, A G Russell bought the company in an attempt to save it from bankruptcy. In 1980, the Solingen factory was closed. The name was bought soon after by a group of American investors, one of whom was Jim Frost. The current knives marked Bertram Cutlery are I think made by Robert Klaas, maker of the Kissing Cranes line.

Apples and Oranges!!..Fight'n Roosters are some of the best knives made in Germany, if not the world!!..Hen & Roosters and Kissing Crane's over the last several years have had a tremendous drop in quality.Also theres been rumors that there having SOME of there knives assembled in CHINA!!...so whats that tell ya???

IMO!!

PS: add Boker to that assembled in China list!!

Mr. Rotten, is the "Boker assembled in China" thing true? I know that they market a line of cheap made-heavens-knows-where line under the Magnum brand (terrible name...terrible name), but does that also apply to their Boker slippies?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting you, its just the first I heard of it.

That would be a shame, I was considering them, being one of the few companies left using carbon steel.

Thanks for the link Johnnie R., I was trying to find that thread...

I don't see any definitive "yes they are" or "no they aren't", but until I see otherwise, I'm with you...I'll lean toward "Boker not assembled in Germany".

That said, if somebody can establish that they are, in fact, assembled in Solingen, I'd be quite happy. I'd like a Solingen Boker.

Hey marcinek,
I don't think all of there knives are assembled in China,just some of there lower end ones..and I'm not talking about Boker magnums,I think all of the Magnums are stamped China.....again this is only a rumor,but its one that I and a lot of others believe.

PS: Like Johnnie F said,all the older ones were either Germany or US made,If you buy older ones you won't have to worry!!

I'll put "an old Boker" on the "buy someday" list.

There are more than enough Made In The US brands to keep me busy for a while (with maybe an German Eye thrown in once and a while).

From my understanding the Magnum line and the Bonsai line are made in China. The Boker plus line is made in Taiwan or the USA. The traditional Boker knives are made in Germany or Argentina. I have emailed Boker asking about the origin of specific models and they reply promptly.
