First Cup Diner!

Mornin' Colonel. Mornin' Scott. Breakfast this morning at Johnny Pamcakes (clever play on the names of John, the owner and his wife Pam) with my two best Buds. Always a good time.

My Roundtable knife from Damon pulled into town at 0149 and I'll be doin' the pee-pee dance until around 1500-1600 when my postal carrier stops by my place. Knife yesterday, knife today and a knife tomorrow. Ain't life grand.

Mornin' guys. I have noticed that several use the Keurig for brewing coffee and mine has gotten a little out of kelter (kilter?) in the last few days. About all it will dispense is a small cup. Anyone else have that problem? I unplugged it to alow it to reset but that didn't help. It isn't but 2 or 3 years old. I'm about ready to dig the old brewer out of the garage.

Ray -- Do you use tap water? Is your water hard? In this area, it would be liming up. (and since you asked, it's "kilter")

Thanks, Jerry. I use filtered tap water and in addition to that, I do have a water softner. I have no buildup on faucets or such. There is no build up in the water heater. I have the feeling that the problem is electrical but that is just a guess.

Living in the land of water as hard as a brick (just finished soaking my bathroom faucet nozzle in vinegar to remove the lime buildup), I think that explains why it was my first guess.

Speaking of Keurig, I think I'll make a cup since breakfast isn't until 0900.

Ray, I've owned two Keurig's (both went tits-up on me) and now we have a Cuisinart for our K-cups. All three machines of the ones I owned would do that from time to time - brew 1/3 to 1/2 of the cup. First thing I do is run the rinse cycle a couple of times, then just run hot water like you are making a cup of tea. What you are doing is trying to flush out the needle - occasionally a bit of coffee will get into the needle and stay, blocking a full flow when brewing. If that fails get out your instructions and follow the white vinegar/de-scaling instructions - that is a PITA but has always cured my brewing issues in the past. Bruce

Ps Both of my Keurig's died at one year or less of electrical issues - but they simply quit working - I didn't get a partial cup - just DOA. Lowe's was terrific - swapped me out the first time, second time I took the credit and switched brands.

I'll have to see if I can locate the manual.

If you'll run about 16 oz of white vinegar thruogh that machine from time to time, it'll clear out those clogs and you'll be back to tasting good coffee. I have extremely hard water where I am and have to do mine about once a month. For good k cups, though, its worth it. Just remember to run regualr through the system a few times after the vinegar flush!

Mornin' everybody! Got my K-cup brewer back to workin thanks to your help. My wife says it still tastes like vinegar to her but you know how wives are.
It is going to be a hell of a day for me today. I'll have more to say later on that.

Morning guys! We came down to the beach for the weekend, high supposed to be mid 80's today, probably the last warm weekend of the season (cold front Monday). The Morehead City seafood festival is going on this weekend too - we've never been, so it should be a fun day.
