I've been using this to scrape the Mud dobber nest's off the walls. It's very convienient when your up a ladder

I'm carrying a Schatt and Morgan English jack. Last year I had a Northwoods Indian River English Jack. I like to vary.

This Old Timer arrived in the morning mail so I oiled the joints, touched up the edges on my ceramic sticks, and dropped it right into my front left pocket. Will carry it for the rest of the week just for the thrill of EDC'ing something new (to me). OH

That's a great lookin' Old Timer there OH, the 8ot is a classic knife for sure. I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on it in comparison to your Buck 301? I know how fond you are of that Buck of yours, so I'd be interested to hear a comparison from you of the 8OT vs the 301...both stockmans, yet both with their own characters.....

Carried this one today for a "heavy use" day at work full size Case CV Trapper...find myself reaching for this one to edc pretty frequently actually, love the way the handle fills the hand, the main clip blade is really versatile, like having the spey option for food items, and the CV blades take and hold a great edge. Also like the red bone handles, I work them like a worry stone in my pocket, might be my imagination but it seems to me the red is getting deeper the more I carry and use the knife...one of my edc faves.

First, it is amazing to see the sheer variety of knives that get posted here at AAPK in the various threads every day for our visual pleasure - I guess that is a good thing, as intellectually it helps me realize I can never own them all - but all these different knives sure fire up the imagination! Thanks to all for all the great pictures posted everyday.

Mike, the weight and feel of the two knives are the same (Buck 301 & Schrade 8OT), the only real difference is the steel. I used the sheepfoot blade on the 8OT today to cut old tie-wraps holding burlap curtains around a deer stand and then I used the main clip blade to cut the replacement tobacco sheet (burlap) once fitted around the stand. I can tell no difference in use except that I don't have the Schrade as sharp I should have it - I will rectify that tonight. The Schrade has a stiffer/harder snap than my Buck - but both are in the "normal" range. I like both knives equally (so far) as users, but I have an emotional attachment to the one Buck 301 that I have to no other pocketknife (to include other Bucks) that will never change. OH

Carrying this one for the last week or so - a new prototype I'm testing - 3" blade in 12c27 with Micarta scales"



Idea was for a folding skinner. On the next one I am dropping the point quite a bit more.

Thanks OH for sharing your thoughts on the 8OT and 301....I know what you mean about the snap being a bit "softer" on the 301...I think of it as a positive, makes it easier to get open in a hurry, almost equates to a smoother opening action. ...you are right about the emotional attachment consideration, that is a huge factor in how much I enjoy carrying a knife. Sometimes I will purposely choose a knife to carry that I know is a little more time consuming to open, just to force myself to slow down a little and keep things in perspective...other days when I know I'm in for a rock n' roller I go for the easiest access and fastest opening closing blade I can...So many considerations, good thing we have so many knives to choose from!

Manual vs automatic transmissions.

Same debate rages among some cyclist regarding old fashion shifter and modern shifters (in the brake levers).

Speed vs being more connected to the process.

In any event...

Worked from home today so I carried the 110 (pocket). Office tomorrow, so the 112 (pocket).
