GEC Northfield Burnt Stag 4 1/2 Inch 1095

Post by Hukk »

I just got the 4 1/2 inch burnt stag Northfield from Bryan ::ds:: Impossible not to like this one, I love this knife and I think it is one of my best GEC knives.
 No pictures yet, I can't find my camera, just being back from the Oregon show. ::doh:: I will post a couple and one of the back end just for sunburst when I find where that camera walked off to
I wonder, how far can a camera with 3 charged batteries walk. ::dang::

I was hoping you would get a good one Hukk. I received 3 in total. I sent yours sight unsean and then couldn't resist checking out the other two. One had a natural stress line on the mark side scale. Not a real big deal IMO.

The other one had mismatched scales. ...thin on the mark side and thick on the obverse side. ::shrug:: Other than that they look pretty good.

I'll post a picture of the one I have left while you look for your camera  ...

Here's the Herd

Post by Hukk »

Here are 2 of the Jumbo Trappers and one 3 3/4 inch trapper in Burnt Stag.
You can see where I wiped the oil from the blades in some spots. All good knives, no complaints. I just took some quick and lousy pictures  .

There's the front side and of course the sunburst view

Yep, the stag is the same thickness on each side. Looks like they tried to match color as close as they could. I know that in a production line that they can not sort through, say 100 scales on hand, but have to look at the first dozen laying there and pick a decent match. To spend time for a perfect match--well, they just can't do that. Time is a big cost. Fortunenately these match up quite well. ::tu:: ::tu::
Thanks for your comments.
I think these are pretty well built, for a big knife, the 23's have great walk and talk. Any stiffer would be just to much, any less and you would feel a limp spot when closing. I think they hit the nail on the head with these.

Still looking for ONE more 73.

Certainly, they did a great job on these. They made some fine looking Burnt Stag knives. You got a good one there.

Thanks sunburst! I did pick up a nice Red Smooth Bone from sunburst. I am still searching for one more 3 3/4 Northfield GEC in stag as well as a couple others that are not here yet. I have a 4 1/2 and a 3 3/4 trapper. Be interesting to handle a couple in interior ivory. The 4 1/2 inch would be a great canvas to send to a scrimshander, enough surface area there to srimshaw just about anything I want down the road.

We don't cure any addiction here, we cater to it and help each other become more diseased.  ::shrug:: Why give it up?
