Hi Jerry,
Didn't see anyone answer your question on "What is a Flylock?"
Flylock was a name of a company - associated with Challenge Cut Co. - in Bridgeport, CONN. circa 1918 - 1928. George M. Schrade was general manager. His father was the inventor of the knife - a switchblade.

Thanks Unk. Received a PM a little earlier on the subject but you couldn't have known that.
That's why they call it a PM.
I appreciate the information and now feel sufficiently informed for my needs.

Great knives, guys. That HSB is sweet, cato!
Here's my latest pick-up. It's a Vignos that I got just because I thought the abalone/white abalone combo handles are pretty neat.

Is the Vignos a production handle or a re-scale?

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
It's a production handle as far as I can tell. The overall wear and patina of the knife is consistent throughout. It's possible that it could be an old re-scale job, but I don't think it is. There's nothing about the knife that would lead me to believe it's been worked on.Knife Nut wrote:Is the Vignos a production handle or a re-scale?

Today's mail brought this Camillus 72 - '60 to '76 White Scout. Except for a mark side, rocker pin crack, it would be factory. Cracks in that location aren't really all that uncommon with this pattern.

Ok I know its not a knife but it is knife related and since I have nothing better to do but spend my time goofing off since my retirement from the navy wanted to share this, picked this up today at a local "flea market shop" its a Joseph Rodgers & Sons sharpener with old stag handles really cool looking and for $5 purchase figured it was worth it. what do you guys think pretty cool huh?

Another Squid? That makes seven that I know of, if you count the two Seabees (I actually count them more as Marines
) Jeez, what is this forum coming to?
(Did you really think you were going to get away Scott free, with no ration of excrement?)
The steel is cool and with that stag handle, very cool. I don't know what they normally go for but the price sounds like a good one.

Here's my latest pick up....Boker USA 8573 large stockman, measures in at 4" closed. Love the scales on this one!
I started a thread over in the Boker forum hoping to scare up some more info on it, if you have anything to share I would be most appreciative...

JR, is that beautiful Moose a 66 or a 54 ?
I'm thinkin 54 for two reasons: IIRC, the 66 has pinched bolsters … and … if it is a 54, I believe it's one of a short run of 15 that have the spear as the main blade … am I close?

Yes Jerry that is a fine lookin' white knife indeed! Very "visually arresting" you could say!
Hey thanks for the compliment On Edge...would you believe I scored that beautiful Boker for under 10 bucks? Sometimes it's worth it to take a shot on a knife that has lousy pics posted...usually it's a bust, but every once in a while ya get lucky and score a realy gem for cheap!

Thanks, JR. If ya don't mind, what is the production year? I am interested because I picked up a 54 Moose some time back, (don't know production year right now), and it was touted as 1 of 15 made with the Spear as the main. And the source of that info was fairly reliable … wondering if yours is one of those as well, or maybe a different year … pretty sure mine is unserialized …johnnierotten wrote: ...

Paul -- Just look at the six digit pattern number. The last two digits are the year it was made. Or maybe you already knew that, in which case, please excuse me and I'm shuttin' up now Boss. Sorry.
