At first glance, I want to believe that this is a real OVB in phenomenal condition, but my inner knife-nag says boooo!!
Too many subtle details that don't add up. There are 4 or 5 things I can list that don't look right; can you name them?? Or have I taken the wrong medication again??

I'm not that good at these elder statesmen (older brands)...but I'll say...
Jigging pattern is at a different angle between the mark side and pile side...Threaded bolsters show wear at the thread lines, while blades and handles do not...Blades look buffed to me...And, it looks like some cold stamping.

Just my opinion.

Is the patent on the wrong side of the punch and punch on wrong side of knife? Why is the groove there for the 3rd blade instead of the punch.

You guys have all brought up some interesting and valid points, not the least of which is guilt by association!!
Here's what I think; New York Knife Company made a lot of OVBs, so the choice of the scam is pretty good. The punch is the best part, and may be the only good part! I have some marked just like that one, mounted in the same place, with no relief nick at the edge of the scale.
But the bone on the back does not look like NYK jig, while the front looks authentic, but newer than the bolsters. The bolsters have been worn and polished, so maybe the bone is newer for sure. The backspring pin is a replacement. Any counterfeiter worth two cents knows it should be brass; I hope I'm not giving too much away :-O!
The two blade shapes are not quite right, both reground IMO, Off just enough to see!! I've never seen a skinning blade in a NYK! And the spear is just not how they did it back then!! I can't get the tang big enough to see it well.
Anyone see more??

Knife has been monkeyed with. Such a waste of skill. Guy could be doing honest work if greed weren't a big factor; or the "thrill of doing bad"
