What a nice H&B stamp on the master blade Stockman!

Nice old H&B, 3 5/8" long stag. Knife looks much better in hand, Bolster pens almost
don't show. I like the old knives best. Anything newer than 1970 is like to new. The
bolsters are also rat tail. That also does not show well in the picture.

I agree with you, 1970's is like new! The history of the old ones always keeps me coming back for more.
What do you mean by the bolsters are "rat tail"? I am unfamiliar with that term.

I wish they showed, it is a detail filed across the bolster a groove so to speak. Maybe
someone has a good picture they could post. Also there is probably a picture in Levines.

It is hit or miss with my picture taking I have just about given up , most all the pictures I have posted this year are file photos taken a while back

This congress is another example of the fine use of stag by H&B.

Heck of a congress you have there. I've never seen an H&B with stag scales before. I've been trying to get one for years now and I just can't seem to find one. Love the bolsters on the other knife as well.

Here is a new one to me (but how many people has this particular knife been new to? hmmm....). An old Hunter with jigged bone.
Can any one tell me any info on this type of jigged bone? Where it gets its red coloration from?
Also, there are a couple of small gaps between the scales and the bolsters, would I be correct in thinking this is due to shrinkage of the bone?

Looks like a fairly well done rehandle to me. Nice knives all around men
