Hey TJ____after the last ""winner"" of the give-away,posted his first post,and only post**____ ( ""rlong27574""__ I think I won.I had 237
)___it sorta put a bad taste in everyones mouth ????
_____the winner didn't even post, before picking a number ??? nor did he post after he won,to say thank you ??
I would rather get a ""Round Table Swap"" of say a $50++ knife, among members__rather than give away a knife to a stranger, that stopped by for the free drawing ???
but that's just me****
Hey Phil__Scott__ or anyone that is listening, that will run a "'Round Table Swap""___ what ya' say ??????______Monk

Re: NEXT
Hey Monk. A round-table would be fun, but I would still like to have the monthly give-away, BUT WITH RESTRICTIONS FOR PARTICIPATION! I went back and looked at the give-aways from Aug, 2011 to Aug, 2012, and four out of ten (we only had ten give-aways) were one post posters. One of the four was a two-time, back-to-back winner, and he still has only one post

Re: NEXT
I agree!
I don't think it would be too much to ask that people who enter the giveaways have at least 15 posts before entering any giveaways.
As we see from TJ's previous post; winning alone does not seem to get new members to get involved with the forums.
I would rather see the knives go to the members who have supported AAPK with their time, posts and involvement in the forums.

My luck is the worst in the world so it does give me a twinge when I see a One timer hit it, not to mention hitting it twice. I'd like to see a min post restriction and have the winner put up a knife for a future drawing or sit out the next 6 drawings. But don't listen to me because I'm not a threat. I won a camping trip once for Myself my Brother and 4 Boys. As my luck would have it it only rained twice in a week. Once for 3 days and another time for 4 days. Have you ever sat in a 6 man tent with 4 Boys and a 270# Brother for a week? Everybody learned some interesting survival tips
That's my luck

If you folks want a roundtable, I'll get one started. I will start a new thread for it soon so there's no confusion. I think it's time for something besides a POS exchange.

Re: NEXT
I have been looking at this site for the last 3 years. I enjoy reading the articles. I am a knife collector myself, like my dad and sons. My wife has fussed at me every day since I showed her I won the knife because I call her from work and ask "Did the mail man bring it?" or as soon as I walk in the door I ask her "Is it here yet?" But to sit here and read what is below, well it just makes me sad to think you guys don't want me to have the knife because it's my first post.
To the guy that donated the knife, I really do appreciate you donating a awesome knife. I really hope I can have it to pass down to my boys some day. I have knives that I plan on putting up for giveaways, but dang, let me learn what I am doing first. I am a newbie.

Re: NEXT
I think that you are misunderstanding a little. It's certainly not that anyone wants you to not win the knife, it's just that in too many instances, the winner makes one post and that is to say "hey, I won", never to be heard from again and never having been heard from before. Don't be sad, enjoy the knife, join in on the conversations, post your questions, answer those questions that you can. In short, come be one of us. Contribute what and when you can. We're a good group of good people and would welcome your comments and your contributions.

Re: NEXT
I plan on posting more, I just haven't an opportunity lately. I work 7 days a week and go to school full time. When I am not at those places, I am at home with my boys. We are home schooling and that takes up the rest of my time. When I do get a free minute, I enjoy reading forums like AAPK because you guys have a vast knowledge of knives and you like to share what you know. I wanted to know more about knives and that is how I ended up finding the giveaway in the first place.

Re: NEXT
So just to clarify, we are holding a roundtable in place of the Sept. giveaway right?

Re: NEXT
The Roundtable is not meant to serve as a substitute for the knife giveaway. To my knowledge there has not been a knife donated this month, hence the lack of a giveaway being announced.
I started the Roundtable because some mentioned wanting to have one. I encourage everyone who wishes to do so to particpate. They are always fun.

Re: NEXT
I'm all for whatever the majority decides. I'd ask that you just be gentle on us old members, and changing the way things have been done in the past. I agree, a new guy, just joining up for a chance at a knife is probably not what the founder of this site desired. In fact I know it wasn't his intention. The rules certainly can and should probably be modified. I read rlongs schedule, and saw his excitement in his winning of the knife, and it seems like he's sincere in wanting to learn here.
Would you explain the round table idea, and also finalize a knife for September's drawing whether we are having one or not? Thanks fellas.

Re: NEXT
Probably pretty obvious there won't be a give away for September but there will be one in October. Rocky The Flying Squirrel (Rocky1122) is providing the knife for that one.
