Re: My latest Schrade
This is my set Gary, there is a lot of nice Schrades down here in AUS.
Have you seen the Schrade-Loveless selling on eBay? I think it only has a short time to go.
I fell they are a must have knife to have in a Schrade Collection...
You would like these Schrade made John Primbel knives, made about 1970-73
The 8OTY is my latest find, I have been looking for one for a long time.
All I need to find now is a red bone 8OT, I think I may never find one. If I do the cost will be too high for me.
I do not have any of those yellow B/eye knives... Ken

Re: My latest Schrade
Nice set Ken, You have a lot of nice knives.
I just won a set of Tradesman series. Farmer,Miner,Rancher,Fisherman,Lumberman.
Have already got the set (except the Lumberman) in odd serial #'s,
but now have a complete set. Will post pic's when they arrive.
Been mostly concentrating on the 34 Pattern for the last 12months, got a few 8OT's
but not wrapped in them or fixed blades.
Keep posting some more of your's,I don't get tired of looking.
Gary.

Here is a girlyman @ 3 5/16 inches closed, genuine red bone, charmingly stained and ready to go into my pocket once I hone it. Smaller than my usual but so cute I just cannot resist. Is it considered gauche to carry more than 3 pocket knives at once?

Gary,
Schrade actually made three different sets of those Tradesman Knives! Red Bone, Green Bone and Brown Bone, gives you something else to seek out....LOL
I am fortunate enough to have all three sets as well as a partial green bone set as well. Great knives and glad to see you were able to snag a set.

Re: My latest Schrade
My trip across country ate into my knife budget and the time I had to look for them, but I did find this one Sunday at the flea market after I got back from Florida.
The master blade is a bit short, it has about 10% snap & the shield is missing but the bone appears intact and the secondary blades have good snap.
Because it has pins through the bolsters, I would surmise it was made before about 1963.
It will make a nice EDC!

Re: My latest Schrade
Ringerygary, those Tradesman sets are superlative. I think I heard that a lot of the latterday nice stuff like this from Schrade used bone from Germany. I have a greenbone set and a couple odd redbone stockmen from those sets. Very nice!
bigdaddy, that #837 was made from 1953 to 1956. One sold for an obscene price recently, and another for a slightly more reasonable price. No wonder; they are very desirable. Good for you!
Dale, those old bone stockman knives from Schrade are just hard not to love! Hope your trip was good and I hope you got my recent email. Take care, Brother!

I picked up this little Uncle Henry last week, and someone, somewhere tried to overstamp the Schrade+ line with a double-cross.

Re: My latest Schrade
More than likely you both have seconds there. Many times they were marked that way so folks would know they were seconds.
The funny thing is, a lot of times a normal person wouldn't be able to even tell that there was an issue causing the knife to be a second.
I can tell you from first hand knowledge, if a Schrade didn't pass Strict quality control, it typically did not leave the factory as a new production knife, however many left with the Tang markings either X'd out or ground off.
My Mom was a Senior Quality Control Inspector for the last twenty years of her employment with Schrade, before she retired!
