Hey Kaleb,
That Wire Jack is awesome. Can you tell if there was ever the sheet metal liner inside? You would probably see a place where a spot weld was broken. If not, and it never had one of the liners in it, you probably have one of the very early ones.
A couple years ago at the OKCA show, B.K. Brooks had a Schrade display there. He also has written about Schrade for Knife World. I had a nice discussion with him about the Wire Jacks (among other things). He said they were originally made without the liner in the center, but the liner was added very early on, because people were clipping the tips of their fingers when they closed the knives.
B.K. said that the ones without the liner were the very first ones made. IIRC, he said the liners were added within the first year they were introduced.
Great find and a nice pattern!

Thanks for the comments guys,
singin46-No, all these are staying factory.
gunsmoke47-I already sold the schrade with jeancarta and arrowhead filework
This wirejack doesn't look to have had the liner at any time, so it it probably one of the earlier ones. I'll check out the webpage Johnnie F provided and see if I can come up with a date range. I'm gonna say it's pre WWII.

Kaleb,
Show a scan of the tang stamp & pat # if possible. That might help date it. My guess at the date would be early 1930's, well before WWII, if the pat #s support it. But it is just a guess.

The stamp on my knife is identical to this other than the fact it has Pat. Pending between "pat. 1-27-42" and "b'port CT" It reads like this:
GEO. SCHRADE
KNIFE CO.
PAT 1-27-42
PAT. PENDING
B'PORT CT
GEO. SCHRADE
KNIFE CO.
PAT 1-27-42
PAT. PENDING
B'PORT CT

Humm........
Maybe BK was mistaken about the inner piece of metal & the time line. Or else I misunderstood him............which is entirely possible.
Nice Wire Jack.

Here's a beauty of a little budding knife. This one is a 1965-1969 model with some purty redbone handles. The blade is sharpened away a little bit and was real rusty when I got it, I waved my magic wand over it and she looks alot better than she did.
