Help cleaning up Grandfathers old knifes

Post by Terry63 »

I recently found several knifes that were my Grandfathers. they were stuck in a box and forgotten for a long time. There are two Old Timers 1080T, and a Barlow that are in bad shape. I think the Barlow, and maybe one of the Old Timers has bone handles but cant be sure. They all were well used and only good for keepsakes but I would like to clean them up without doing any more damage. I would appreciate any suggestions. ::shrug::

Thank you, Terry

I'd start with a little WD-40 and maybe some 000 steel wool, used very lightly. You don't want to remove any metal, just any rust or debris. After you've cleaned them up a bit, apply a light coat of fine oil, Rem Oil is what I like to use.
