For no explainable reason, the Buck 112 has been in my pocket for the past week. Subtantial. A pocket knife of substance and consequence. Something about the curve of the front bolster. Prettiest production knife ever?

Everything else was not sharp. This one will go to work today because it was sharp.

whitebuffalo58 wrote:I seldom ever post on this thread, because compared to you fellers, I am one boring son of a gun! There's really only one knife that I can truely call my EDC knife and has been since I was about 16. The everlasting 8OT, or atleast one of the variants of it. I do on occasion, throw another knife in one of my other pockets, but still never leave the house without the 8OT on me. It and my 15 year old Gerber multi-tool are all I ever seem to need. All the others come and go. You guys carry some wicked cool knives and i'm often tempted to do the same, but I reckon i'm just a creature of habit. ::facepalm:: I do enjoy seeing the knives ya'll carry though, there's some serious hardware posted in this thread. ::tu::
Here's pretty much my full rotation, other then a couple of NIB's, should I live so long as to need them. There have been many others lost, stolen, broken or given away over the years and the red bone handled one has been retired to desk duty. The main on it makes a perfect splinter fetchin' tool. :D

ROB, I EDC a USA 8OT Schrade Old Timer just like one in your picture, (top left). When I enlarge your picture I can lay my 8OT over top of your picture on my screen and my knife matches it like a twin. It has the same worn main master blade like yours. My 8OT has been a great EDC knife for the many years I've carried it. My brother-in-law gave it to me about 25 years ago. All of its blades will get very sharp and with the edge profile I've put on the blades from 25 years of sharpening it and EDC, it doesn't take but just a couple of strokes on a stone to get them real sharp again when they need it. I'd guess a lot of people have EDC a Schrade Old Timer at some time in their life. They were a good carbon steel bladed knife that could be bought at an affordable price back when Schrade was producing them. Seems like they have held up pretty good going by all the ones I see that people still carry.

Hey Aimus, that's great! I knew I probably wasn't alone. For me, the 8OT is a perfect size with a great blade combination and excellent steel. The first one I bought was towards the end of the Walden era and if I remember right, it cost me $3.95 at the local hardware store. I lost it over the edge of my grandpas boat, while setting lines on the Neosho River. I was like a lost puppy all weekend. The following Monday, after school, I went to the hardware store and bought two. With very few exceptions, i've never been without one since. It is, for my own personal tastes, as it seems to be for many others, the perfect EDC knife.

Nothin' like the 112.

My current opinion (no promise for tomorrow) is that the 112 is the prettiest production knife ever. Something about it.

Funny you mentioned sheath. The one in the picture is my second. I actually bought a third one but I hated the way it fit on the belt. It was way to high so I sold it on Ebay. I used my first sheath until it looked like the holey socks I had on in my Sears engineer boots (the 14" set)

I really will get pic(s) but today I carried the more "used" looking of the two Coyote Lockbacks I got Sunday. I worked on the edge until it was about as sharp as most of my knives.

Thought I had found a Schrade Old Timer 8OT yesterday until I opened the master blade - the front third of it was gone! Fortunately the guy had this older Buck 303 in the same display case. It needed a little oil in the joints and now it is snapping just fine, touched the blades up on the ceramic sticks a few minutes ago - it will go into my pants pocket this morning as a new EDC.
