NAPPY HEADED HOSE, Shield board

Post by lt632ret »

To start off with I will probably get in trouble for a political comment however. I must say that after a week of trying to figure out what was going on . I am old and not very Hip ( is that the word ) any way I finally figured out what all the indignation was about being called nappy headed hose. My cats were sleeping on them and when it was friskys time I saw them and sad they were a pair old nappy headed hose. These socks while old friends were already starting to nap and pill as well, yes indeed these were nappy headed hose ( it was obvious they were already heading in that direction. ) No wonder there was indignation how would you like to be compared to a pair of socks that look like this. DAMN you IMUS DAMN YOU.

For knife content This item is what was referred to years ago as a shield board. The original versions of these were made of a brass backround onto which the various styles and types of knife shields which a company used were welded ( or other wise attached ). Usually a company had only one or two of these there purpose was severalfold. The first was to acquaint workers with the various products and styles used in the production of there product. Another was to show prospective buyers what styles were available for the knives they might to decide to buy or contact under there own company name. Schrade was a well known contract knife maker for many other knife companies who and which patterns have always been a matter of conjecture to knife collectors and those involved in those historys. When Schrade closed I had access to a large supply of the then current and some of the older shields they used in the production of there knives and those produced by them for other companies. This shield board is a composite of the various types and styles of shields which I procurred upon the closing of the firm. These shields are glue mounted to a black plastic sign board. The plastic back is approx 11,7/8" by 4,5/8 inch. The item is vacuumed Some of these are marked Camillus, Case, Queen, Primble, and there is a 303 buck type shield. LT

They actually are clean and since writing this the cats have informed via there union ( the IPP ) international Pussy Power . We all know how strong the power of PUSSY is. That by removing them I have violated there rules of uniform and relagated sleeping provisions. I cannot throw the socks out I do not desert those who have served well no matter how menial there station. I had a scottish friend who said nothing should ever be thrown out. His house was a monument to that actually you would be amazed at how everything seems to be worth more with time. The exception to that was a coroner friend who mentioned a hermit pair of brothers who died with a mattress full of hundred dollar bills. They would never put in plumbing claimed it cost to much. They had an out house and a shed the shed was filled with used toilet paper. Unlike most things its value had not appreciated. However the magazines and catalogues still left in the out house had. LT

The Moderators are huddling together right now about your comments LT.
There does seem to be a consensus, that it is going to take considerably more Crown Royal to fully understand the way you've chosen to weave your hose...er, prose.
For now, please continue to share your escutcheons and such. Be advised, that pulling the underwear card would have much greater impact and cause serious crinking of Drown Royal.

Oh.....that is a cool board. ::nod:: ::tu::

Well then try this to see if I may arouse the ire of those who straddle the line of what may or may not be appriopriate. The assault upon our fundamental rights is apparent in many fields our form of governments greatest strength is derived from its freedoms. It is also our most vulnerable weak spot. Today there is a great push to not use certain words the N word the C word ect. This is because they offend some people. I suggest we amend our language to omit all words that offend anyone. Then there will no longer be a problem since no one one will be able to say anything since surely all will be offended by something no matter how mundane.. As Clarance Darrow once pointed out. "The spoken and written word while presently the best communicator we have is still far from a perfect medium. To take segments out of it only makes it less effective" . Have you ever tried to explain something or give directions that were not understood even though you may perfectly understand the problem and answer . Think how much greater this would be by disallowing various words ( since they might offend or some other reason like be true ) Sometimes a word someone may find unpleasant may be the exact word to make your meaning or intention known. Sometimes words quell or inflame and may elicit violent reaction this is not the fault of the word or tool any more that the pulling of a trigger is the fault of the gun. Or a knife used to stab instead of to peel a potatoe. They are tools. For years when new employees would come on duty the first thing I would explain to them that justice and rights must be closely guarded and protected. That they were the veneer upon which our society rested. I impressed that laws or rules enforced unequally are much worse than no laws at all. I do not care what you say about me or in fact anything I only care only that you and everyone else has that same freedom to say what they will . The ultimate grandaddy of all swear words starts with an F . Yes indeedy an A for everyone you got it. Now the next time someone says it to you ask them what it means did you ever wonder. I mean OK I know what you are telling me to do but where did the word come from.

Well ( this is the truth ) in a faraway kingdom there was a king he had an army who he had trouble paying but did not want to turn against him . Now his soldiers like to pick out any one they chose and do the dirty whenever they pleased. The people rebelled and said it was against the law for these soldiers to inflict them selves upon there whim ( or in this case wimmen) . The King agreed but since he did not want to lose his unpaid soldiers he made it legal for them to do it. All a soldier had to do was yell You Fornicate Upon Command of the King. Do the letters look familiar. It was then shortened and the you placed in back of the other word. So there you have it a mother F was used as an insult by one soldier to another since apparently they had rules to. No matter how crude. So the next time you get pissed off tell whoever got you mad to go fornicate upon command of the king . AHH I love history. LT

Do I detect a reluctance ( spelling) ie lack of desire to involve regarding my position of free speech . If so it is truly respected even in its absence. In our history when Washington finally after his circumventing what in effect was a mutiny by his troops not 10 miles from where I live . The same troops who had served for 7 years with out payment that were sent penniless back in to civilian life many who were high ranking officers who had to give there very swords back and literally left the field they commanded as paupers but would not accept charity for there beliefs . Yet celebrated there victory to establish what we accept today as a birthright. There fight was to among other things to say what they felt they must say and as freemen had a right to . Torys and whigs had money loyal generals were broke .much like the analogy of those who fled to Canada during Viet Nam came back and took over there familys businesses . ( and now have sway in many political agendas ) While those who served, were under our freedom of speech, called baby killers pigs and worse. Damn it stop forgetting, or try to envision yourself without the things we feel are self evident, or those who died to show they are not. Uncle Al, ( Sharpten ) the liar brawleys pal is entitled to say what he wants. Imus is an idiot who should be making minimum wage instead of millions we are the idiots for allowing this not them . None the less I would die for there right to there stupid opinions. That is what it is about. Hi Dale glad you like the board I know you opinion and your dedication . I guess I just feel like babbling LT.

The moderators had to take a break while deliberating the merits or lack thereof, of LT's post. Unfortunately, during break time, Drown Royal was replaced by this moderator's licker of choice, tequila, and now we need a break from our break.

In the meantime, way cool shields, LT! You constantly show us that knives only can make a nice collection, but there is so much more that can make even a modest collection stand out. You have done blade sample boards as well, I know.

Quote from LT.. "I impressed that laws enforced unequally are worse than no laws at all."

When dealing with incarcerated felons, you must be firm, fair and consistent on a daily basis.
The main problem with that, is, that some days, you couldn't remember how you dealt with them, the day before(for whatever reason), so I always encouraged Officers, old and new, to adopt the following policy.
FIRM--- tell them NO!!!
FAIR--- tell them ALL, NO!!!
CONSISTENT--- tell them all, NO!!!, every time.

LT may or may not agree with this policy, but it works very well, especially it you are dealing with the Crown residual, that is left over from the weekend.
As LT once said, "the drunker I sit here, the longer I get"

Oh, by the way, I really like the shield board, too.

OK well now at least I got you guys responding . Here are some blade boards. Does any one remember the bit Imus did years ago . He did a televangelist ( or in this case radio evangelist ) parody . His church was called the first church of the gooey death of Del Rio Texas. I am sure it insulted someones beliefs but even if in bad taste it was taken as humor. You could send a donation and receive a genuine piece of the cross. So it would seem that the right of free speech extends only so far. About as far as affirmative action and is applicable to about the same groups. Like George Orwell said in Animal farm all men are created equal but some are more equal than others. promotions, job opportunitys, rights including free speech will be based upon race, color, creed, gendre, or sexual pursuasion. Just like the constitution says right.

Lastly sorry let me extend my apology to all for voicing my opinions it seems my 55 gallon mouth sometimes overwhelms my teakettle ass. I really do not post other than here I consider it home or perhapes more like a hunting club or bar. Just like in those places sometimes conversation strays from hunting or sports or drinking I guess this is what happened in this case. LT

Bill,
I think I detect your handiwork. You should put it into the Imus Museum of Modern Nappies.

It is at least as good as LT's nappy headed hose. But give Rich his due, his are much more natural...........................or should I say unnatural (in smell). Maybe what I mean to say is his are naturally occurring.....sort of. ::doh:: ::shrug::

Lt, Its been too long since you weaved a story like this. Seems every few years we get around to reviewing your hose. Next well be discussing ping pongs and distance over accuracy. I have been busy with other things around here but really did miss this place.
Thanks
