Cutty -- Did you measure it? I ask because most of those #53 cigar frames are shown at 4-1/8" but the Furtaker Trapper is listed at 4" and the Furtaker Muskrat is shown at 4-1/4". Did someone in the graphics department at GEC make a mistake when they did up the pictures or were the 53s made in three different lengths?

Pictures from the GEC website.

Jerry

I've seen the furtaker advertised at 4" and 4 1/8" in different handle materials , not on GEC's website ???
I would like to know the deal?

If you do a "furtaker" search in the member store area there are two. One 4 1/8" and one 4"?

I measured it and I get 4 1/8" on the nose with a flexible, seamstress style rule. That's what I use on all my knives 'cause I can get exact without as much chance of scratching. I've even put the tape up against a wooden rule to make sure it's correct and it is.

Cutty -- I wasn't doubting your word. I had three different lengths specified for the 53 by the GEC web site and was looking for an actual measurement of a physical knife.

Well it didn't make sense to me that all those cigar frames would be different lengths. Just take a few and check out the three different lengths that are specified for the 53 knives here: http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/pat ... gar-cuban/

That never even crossed my mind Jerry ::tu:: I just tend to be long winded to the point of beating the dead horse ::dang::

I am a bit confused myself as to why the same pattern # is varied in length and what the reasons behind the small length difference is?
Just when I think I have something figured out some one goes and changes the "Norm". I guess that's why this hobby/addiction is so interesting and fun :D

I gotta agree JR. Many if not most knives people post don't "move" me.

Then something like that shows up and the drool runs all down the front of my shirt!

Dug out some mini's today ,had'nt really looked at em since pickin em up, anybody interested? ::shrug:: the top left in the velvet box, ooh-ahh, is a barlow so is the one next to it. The one to the right of those is hard to make out but I think it says w.j. hanna on one tang. And yes thats a key that slips in and acts as a bolster. The knife in the lower row is a bristoline [germany]. the camper has mitsuboshi on the main blade. mispell? Its a damn sharp little sucker too!next to it, a promotional knife from colonial. The next two: the larger is a lion cutlery from vom clefe?[germany].And the little itty bitty one was probably from a charm bracelet and has GRC one one side of the body and interest? on the other ::shrug::
