Birthday bomb
A good friend and fellow aapk member remembered my upcoming birthday, and bombed me today. When I got home this afternoon, this was waiting for me. It's a Canal Street 4 inch Stockman with American chestnut sales. The wood was reclaimed from an old barn right down the road from me in Hopkinsville, KY. And it's all the more special since the American chestnut tree us all but extinct. Wow, what a knife! Thanks buddy!

Very nice.
I'm a big Canal Street fan.
The handles on that knife show a lot of really nice grain pattern.
Happy Birthday.

That is one fantastic looking knife there, and Happy B Day! I've had my eye on that Canal Street Chestnut for a while now, it sure is purty, and love the story behind it....it is on my list as soon as the finances allow, maybe Christmas! You are very fortunate to have a friend that thinks so highly of you, best to ya!

Wow, nice gift and Happy Birthday; at 36 you are young enough to be able to wear that knife out if you use it hard for the next 50 years or so!
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Re: Birthday bomb
C26 -- Your thirties are the best years of your life. You're young enough to still do what ever you want because you still can but you're old enough to be taken seriously and you're prime meat in the job market. As Colonel O.H. said, there's still time left in your life to (among other things) wear a knife down to the nubs.
Here's what you have to look forward to:
Maybe in your late 30s but almost for certain in your 40s, your arms get shorter (your near vision goes to hell)
In your 50s a few aches and pains start to show up and your stamina begins to wane. In your late 50s to early 60s you start looking more at the floor and less at the ceiling. (wink, wink)
In your 60s the aches and pains kick in with a vengeance and you find you can't get out of a chair without grunting. Towards the end of your 60s your balance starts to go to hell.
I can't speak for the 70s because I'm not there yet but if they're worse than the 60s I'm not looking forward to them.

Fellers,.I don't know what happened. Yesterday I was 30 with one little boy. Now he's 7, there are two more, and I'm about to be 36! Where in the world did the last 6 years go?

The same place the next 12 will go, zipping by like a AA Fuel Dragster. The next thing you know, you'll be a grandpa with a 7 year old grandchild (or a 17 year old with a job, a drivers license, a boyfriend and looking forward to graduating high school next yearColonel26 wrote:Where in the world did the last 6 years go?
