I think this historic collection belongs here; While in Oregon, I displayed this Empire collection, and won an award. I purchased it from Tom Boutin a year ago, and added some pieces, about 20% of them, and will continue to improve it as opportunities arise. There are a few worn old ones in there, waiting to be upgraded, and there's a story to tell, which I hope to compile and publish.
The display is a replica of an 1858 display assembled for the Connecticut Agricultural Fair.
Here are some pics of the display, and Tom and I. Also the Big custom knife we won. Since Tom spent so many years on that collection, I sent the award home with him!! Next one is mine, if I'm lucky.

Congratulations Upnorth on your award.. Your display must be fantastic to see in person. I imagine that restoring the display has been fun and a little work as well

. Hopefully one day I can catch up with you at a show and get a chance to see it and yourself..

I see you are still giving the best of your winning away. I am sure Tom will never for get you and what you did the rest of his life.

That sure would be nice to come home with a prize like that.

I am looking forward to metting you at the Queens show in July.

Wow, that is a real classy thing to do, that's great

I believe I remember seeing that display, unfortunately it seems our paths never crossed. Maybe next time. Congratulations!

Next year we get "Empire Strikes Back" followed by "Return of the Empire"

I wish everyone could make that show. It is always packed with older knives,
as well as every genre of knives you can think of.
A display of San Francisco Bowie knives that would knock your socks off was there; Remingtons, Scout knives, Military swords, Randall knives.
One guy had a store display full of antique pocket knives from each of 8 different brands!
Incredible show!

Hey Charlie,

Congrats on the award! It was (and is) an awesome display.

There was so much to look at there............

Those early San Francisco knives were to cool.........I've always wanted a Michael Price, old Frisco knife maker, but, way out of my price range.
