This looks wrong all over to me... the shield doesn't look right, the bolsters don't look right, the model # on the back of the tang doesn't look right. What do you guys think?

Knife is a complete fake...nothing on it was made by Case. Look at his other auctions and you'll see he has a fake Canoe up for sale as well. I don't know the seller, he might be one that just doesn't know much about knives.

i talked to the seller and he said he was selling knives for a friend. claims no knowlrdge, (gave me his phone# and seemed sincere) and he said he was going to pull the auctions because he does'nt want to rip anybody off. we'll see.

both knives were removed. the seller was very nice.

Good job on the contact Jonet.

There are a few of these guys out there that refuse to yield. I would at times contact the buyer and warn them, but eBay for the most part has taken care of that by hiding the bidders name now.

In general I find that if a seller is responsive and gracious for your information, they really didn't know. On the other hand, a nasty comment or if they just blow you off, they KNOW and don't CARE. Make note of these in the last group, put them on your block list and pass the word to everyone you know.

i talked to the seller on the phone(his dime) and he was unaware of the knives being counterfeit. he said he chose me to talk to because i was polite in my original letter. he said he got several emails accusing him of being a thief and called him names. we know several sellers that are bad but all are not just because they have a klinker up for sale.

EXACTLY, you're going to get far more information and response by being professional. Flaming and name calling will get you absolutely nothing but a bad reputation. When I contact a seller, I've always been polite and offered the information I know and ask if they would like to know more or give them a resource to verify what I'm saying.

Those that ignore what I'm telling them or resort to rudeness or call me names, probably already know they are selling a dud. It's this group in which I take names.

Those that respond and want to know more are usually just mis-informed or just don't know and are relying on someone else's opinion. Generally I find that these are good sellers. I guess it would be prudent to keep their names also, as responsible selers.

Maybe we should keep track of the good sellers like we do the questionable ones, and I have one to put on the good list. Just last week I bought a Cattaraugus camp knife that was listed as having a functional compass. When I received the knife the compass did not work, I contacted the seller and he cheerfully told me to send the knife back for a refund. His ID is catlynn2 and I can honestly say that you can buy from this guy confidently.
