Yellow Case Trappers

Post by Blade Runner »

Here's two Case trappers both from the USA era (1965-1969). The top knife is handled in flat yellow, while the bottom example is handled in regular yellow composition. Reportedly flat yellow is found only in the XX, USA, and 1970 10 dot eras. Flat yellow is rarer and generally brings a little more money on comparable knives.

Nice trappers, blade runner. Is the flat yellow less "translucent" than the regular yellow. I can't say I've ever seen them side by side.

Yes Charlie that's pretty much the difference, note the darkness around the handle pins, shield and bolsters on the regular comp on the bottom knife. This darkness is because to a very small degree you can see the pins beneath the surface, while the flat yellow handles on the top trapper are opaque resulting in no darkness.
