Someday I HAVE to take some more pics! Don't have a good shot of the Rough Rider Red Bone Sleeveboard Whittler that is in my shorts pocket. It ain't beautiful by any means. But it is sharp!

Well, I've always wanted to get ahold of one of these old "melon tester" or citrus knife, or sausage tester, style knives but didn't want to drop double digits on one. Recently picked up this super solid, aligator snapppin', stainless Colonial for $9 delivered, so I was excited to carry it today and give it a go! Spending my workdays (and nights) in a restauant kitchen, I made a point today of putting the ol' melon tester through the paces...I cut a plug from a huge watermelon and was able to extract a nice long piece for sampling, I did the same with a cantaloupe with equally good results, I sliced lemons, limes, and an orange, and I even broke out the genoa salami and cut off some nice even slices. I must say it felt kinda cool to be able to use it for it's intended purposes, and find that the knife fully lives up to it's name, whatever ya may call it!
Of course I still had to carry my trusty Scallion for the heavier duty general purpose tasks, but the melon tester slides nicely into the pocket and carries pretty unobtrusively, so carrying two blades not really a big deal.

Well afta hearing the supreme court tell US we HAVE TO buy medical insurance I had to grab a coffee, some Imperials and the Marlin and go sit on the coydog stand till dark and think NO no ponder What next is this goverment going to tell me what to do anyway todays carries.

The Hobo Colonial is there today. It is a solid knife with a primary that stays sharp. I did a bit of grilling this evening. Half pound o ground round smothered with baked potato and garden salad. The Hobo performed well.

A lot of oldies showin' up here. I like it!!! Here's an unusual little old Imperial I picked up recently. I've been carrying it in the pouch on the side of my lunch bag.
