I think everyone should have at least one of each of these.
  • Mark 2 Combat knife - Ka-Bar, Camillus, Case, Ontario, you pick
  • A Randall - any pattern
  • Jet Pilot's Survival knife
  • Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife
  • Marbles - Gladstone Michigan
  • Buck - USA made any model
  • Case - any model
  • Western - any model
  • Gerber Mk-I or MK-II
  • Blackjack - Effingham
  • Bark River - any model
  • Edited to add -- Puma White Hunter (Thanks Rangerbluedog)

2. A Bark River Bravo 1
3. Puukko
For collecting.
1. Older Marbles
2. Bob Loveless
3. Bill Moran

I'd say the Bark River Bravo 1 is a modern day classic.

I'll leave the exact model up to each individuals taste (of course I don't mind sharing my favorites), but I would include one from each of these groups:

US issue bayonet or fighting knife (I'll take a M-1 bayonet and a M-3 Trench Knife).
Buck Knife (make mine a 105).
Case
Marbles
Randall (I like the #26)
Schrade (Sharpfinger)
Western (F66)

What JerryD said - 'cept I'd eliminate the Marbles & Western and add:
John Ek Commando knife
Puma Great White Hunter
Boker pattern 015
oh, and a M3 (any maker)

Blue - I think they made some of those Ek knives in Effingham so the Blackjack covers it for me (although I wasn't thinking Ek when I listed that. )

I agree on the Puma White Hunter. I should add that to the list. In fact, I think I will.

Great knives and choices guys! I do agree the Bravo-1 is a classic as well and a must own. Those are some great German knives as well. ::drool:: And I have to have a Quartermaster ! Love that knife. Any suggestions on where to pick up one?

Did someone say fixed blades? ::woot::

My top would be Buck, followed by vintage Marbles, then Case, Puma, Hen & Rooster (sneaking that one in there), then Ka-Bar, Solingen hunting knives like Anton Wengen's Othello and Ideal Shirt knives plus Edge Brand & Robert Klaas, then some classic military knives including Ontario and Cattaraugus. Yes, I like fixed blades a little. ::super_happy::

What a gorgeous set of knives Garddogg !!! Especially the Marble's Ideal's
Fixed blades make up 65% of my collection versus the folders
My top ones would be
98 Marble's Ideal (52/100B carbon steel)
Marble's Expert
Ruana
A unnamed pattern old KA-BAR (Union) from 1930's
and a old Case Knife-Axe combo I just can't leave to deer camp without

I will stay with eight favorites for now. BTW, my scanner doesn't understand when blades are mirror bright, but sometimes they are.
