Wanted a change but wanted to stay lightweight. Put this Hammer Brand in my shorts pocket:
Image

This plus the Red Handled Imperial Scout I carry daily plus several little Wenger and Vic SAKs and a few other odds and ends came from what SEEMED to be airport confiscations. It was amazing to me to find this and the Imperial in that BUNCH of Chinese knockoffs etc....

Decided to carry this Japanese made Sears-Craftsman Trapper that I bought last week; I have assumed Sears would have been specific as to what quality they required in the Craftsman line of products (which is why I invested the $8.00 to buy it). The few cutting chores the knife has been given so far (several big packs of hotdogs at the ballpark and opening a cardboard shipping carton) have gone fine using the factory edge, which is pretty good on this NOS knife. The knife hasn't had to take on any tougher chores as yet. This is my first Japanese made knife, blades appear to be made of sufficiently thick stainless steel, and seem to be in the decent category - no wobble, well fitted blades, good snap, very positive half stops . The nice looking bone is it's best visual feature, the flying eagle blade etch is pretty cool too.

So, hopefully not to ruffle any forum feathers, but each and every time I see that EO, I kick myself for not jumping in on that purchase last year. That is simply one of the most stunning blade combinations and everything about that frame is just utterly perfect. Looks like something fell out of an early Schrade catalog - in fact, I seem to recall having found that combo in on of the old ones.

Will there be an AAPK knife this year? It might not seem right, but we could do an awfully lot worse than having GEC do another run of those. Man, that is some knife.

Church today and then my son's Little League game and then a graduation party. This is with me today.

They were great knives!

Today I will be carrying a GEC easy open (a gift from Gino.....thanks again Gino). ::tu::
GEC BF ez open jack a from Gino.jpg
And I will also have a pretty little Imperial I got from Dimitri in the last POS Roundtable. (Thanks Dimitri). ::tu::
These little Imperials, even the old shell handles, sure cut good & hold a great edge! ::nod::
Besides, I have always been a sucker for a nice swedge ground clip blade.

Well, that is all the room I have knives in my church pants today. I will add more when I get home and change clothes. I'll probably add the Spyderco Endura that I just washed along with my shop britches.

Nice knives Charlie! and those little Cases make great Sunday knives! Older I get the more I like a lightweight smaller knife, especially since my dang diabetes is startin to give me a little neuropothy in my right hip and thigh. Any large knife in my right pocket just drives me nutz with damaged nerve ending pain....but a small one in my watch pocket works great! so I tend to stuff a couple larger knives in my left pocket  ...cant have too much of a good thing....ya know :)

I know what you mean Bob. I started carrying large knives on my belt for the most part. I do have a couple like the Buck in my pic above that don't bother me clipped in the pocket. I purchased the GEC Tidioute below about two months ago and ordered a horizontal sheath to go with it. It has turned out to be a great combination.

Simple and straight ahead.

Felt good about my choice for my 5OT for Sunday yesterday evening. Full day (church, little league, co-worker's kid's graduation party, yard word) ended with my wife making a fire in the fire pit out back. She struggled with the wet tinder available as it's been raining most of the week. I had already used the 5OT to take out a couple of low hanging maple branches that had encroached on the yard (bend, cut hard into the bend). So I grabbed a damp stick and used the 5OT to reduce it to a pile of curved shavings for her. As I was doing so, I was aware that I was using the knife more roughly than I would with any of my slip joints - one reason I prefer a locking knife.

A few minutes later, my son and I smelled the smell of smoke. She got the fire lit and we all sat around the fire late into the evening.

Still with this GEC, it has everything I need on it and in my opinion I havent found a better built or better looking knife for the money.

The only problem with Gino posting pictures of that knife is that it pegs my envy-meter so hard it bends the needle.

Do you think gec could be talked into another run?
