Hows about a "new product announcements and review"

Post by Bryan »

Does anyone have an interest in adding a section to the forums where dealers, distributors, and/or manufacturers can announce new products and where members can post reviews, comments, etc. about the products?

I figure it would be a good place to organize all the posts about the new Great Eastern offerings along with new stuff coming up from Canal Street, Queen, etc. ::shrug::

Thanks,
Bryan

8) Great idea Bryan, as long as the Manufacturers and Distributors don't

get their noses bent out of shape if they don't like our reviews and

comments.

After some thought, I think it would be a great idea. Keep it professional, no POS comments but give reasons why a certain knife is rated and you must own the knife or have access to the knife for a few days to help rule out blatant flaming or unwarrented kudos. These things need to be done for a manufacterer to give this site credibility. So, I believe that there needs to be "ground rules", without credibility no one is going to take comments seriously.

Mitch and Hukk raise some good points that I had not considered. I'm still pondering this idea. I sure don't want to create something that could jeapordize the friendly environment we have here.

...well, for the most part we're all relative friendly ...most of the time.

If we all promise to play nice that could be a great new section. It seems to me that we have already been reviewing & sharing our opinions quite a bit with only the very occasional feather being ruffled.

no doubt that we can be vocal if riled, ::paranoid:: but i will do my best to stick to facts, as i see them, with no animosity, for the education of aapk members and others as well. that way as contributing to knife discussion with the end being better products for our money and the furtherence of the cutlery business in the u.s.a. we are talking about new products, right? ::dang:: i will read with interest the posts on foreign knives as well. kinda sounds like the opening of possum lodge.

not edited, but should be!

It sounds like this could be a good think. I like Hukk's input. You can't critique a product you don't own or haven't used.

I just now got this set up on the board...

It's under "Specialty Forums" section just under the "Knife Lore" forum. Do you think it's in a good location or should it be moved???

Hows about the verbage? Sound ok to you fellas?

I'll have to write up a "rules for review" soon to avoid unneccessary flaming and unwarrented kudos.

Thanks for the input. ...one step at a time. ::tu:: I'm slow, but I try my best to be steady :) .
