My Latest Victim

Post by whitebuffalo58 »

I combined an old Wostenholm Gunstock Jack with worn blades, missing handles and busted secondary backspring with a Case XX era 6275 clip blade. Then added Cocobolo handles. It'll make a nice slim, but large framed user. Hard to believe they were made in two different countries. The fit up only required very minor modifications.

Nice. ::tu:: Did you stamp rebuild on the pile side in case it ever gets out onto the market? I can almost see it on a red background now with a $500.00 bid.

Very nice frankenknife, WB!

I've been thinking the same thing, about properly marking my knives so that they are not thought of as factory work. Of course, who could mistake my work for a factory knife? ::shrug::

Thanks guys, and rest assured, the knives I work on are the victims, not whoever might end up with them. All knives are properly marked. ::nod::

Since Whitebuffalo posted his a "latest victim", and some comments were made about it being a "Frankenknife", I was wondering if there are enough of these type knives to have their own forum page? I have one that started life as a 22055 Case. I rescued her from a watermelon rind at a wayside park table more than 50 years ago. The main blade had a lot of wobble because the hinge pin was broken and I eventually lost the original blade. AAPK member Elvis was gracious enough to reblade this ol' girl. But from the pictures you can see, she is a true "Frankenknife" with a half stop. Treefarmer

Thanks for showing that great knife, treefarmer. I am in the process of deciding what to do with a 6292 ten dot with completely used up blades. Hunting for a blade for the main blade will be a challenge. A blade from another knife may be an option. I think a Frankinice thread would be great.

A Frankenknife thread might be fun.

I was bored one day, wanted to work on a knife, but after surgery I didn’t trust my hands to work on a real knife.
It is the frame of a 34OT and the blade from an M Klein & Sons rope knife modified to fit the frame.
I took one look at it and named it Lil’ Ugly. ::facepalm::
It sees use in my shop from time to time, when I can keep from laughing.

It's Frankenknife!!!!

Good idea for a thread.

(WB, the term frankenknife was meant with the utmost respect for your work. Not as an insult)

I sent Bryan a request for a Frankenknife forum.
I think it should be in the Knife Creation, Modification & Repair forums.
