Need help with Remington bullet knife repair

Post by mucmuc »

I have a 50' bullet knife (I think Remington) that has been in the family for 60 years. A part (the locking part) of the lever that locks and unlocks the blad broke off. Can anyone tell me who or how I can get this repaired? Many Thanks.

I tried to attach picture, but it did not work...the upload progression bar does not progress. The picture is <1MB

I would love to post the pictures...I have JPEG format, and I follow the "upload attachment" - "browse" and "add the file" path. However, no luck ::shrug::
I found a "how to" as well and followed it...no luck...
Maybe I can e-mail the pictures to admin...?

Remington didn't make any Bullet knives in the 50's or 40's. They were producing them in the 30's however, and if infact you have an orginal Remington Bullet I can probably either provide the part you need or install it for you. I'll send you my email address in a pm if you want to share a photo of the knife .

Mucmuc does indeed have an authentic Remington Bullet 1306 with a broken backspring. I feel sure I have some, I'll make sure later today.

RC, I have an original Rem 1123 in good condition if it's anything you are interested in.

Specializedrider,
Thank you for asking, but it is a family keepsake, and I am not considering selling it.

Thanks for letting me know. I also have a R1306 and like yours it needs a backspring. If you have any knowledge of someone that has a good backspring, please let me know. Have a great day.

Specializedrider,
Look at some earlier correspondence in this thread. I got my spring from Remington Collector. Perhaps he has another one for you. I am having a hard time finding someone who can do the repair work though. I would appreciate if anyone here knew a reputable repair shop. Perhaps a member of AAPK even?

I would install the backspring for you. I have installed many backsprings and blades for over 20 years. If you are interested, let me know. Would you care to tell me how much you had to pay for your backspring? Thanks.

Remington Collector,
Did you happen to find another R1306 backspring or a muskrat blade for a R4353? If you know anyone that might have good used blades for the old Bullet knives, I would certainly appreciate the information. Thanks.

Save the pic as a j-peg not bitemap and it will.

Someone out there surely has a good used backspring for a vintage R1306 Remington Bullet pocket knife. I would even buy a junk knife if it has a good backspring. I also need a good used muskrat blade for a vintage R4353 Bullet knife.
