Hello All - I'm looking for any and all information about these limited edition Case knives produced for Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimarron New Mexico. If you happen to know when they were produced and how many were sold that would be most helpful. Tom

From top to bottom: 2000, 2008, 2008, 2005, 2007, and the bottom one is 2001 OR 2002.

I've been drooling over this one since it was posted up for auction....

Only issue is the very tip of the awl is broke....I have 2 of the repp's....never even held one of the OG's.

I hear ya, JR. That tipped punch might be an issue on some knives, but probably not too much on that one. She's a beauty for sure.

I'll bet the seller isn't to thrilled

. I had one with about 50% blade loss and it looked a whole lot rougher than this one and it sold for a few bucks less than this beauty. Of course that was about 6 years ago.

This is nowhere as spectacular as that beautiful Remington (and very far from the price), but I thought it was interesting.

It appears that the liner has sides that cover the edge of the handles; almost as if the liners are trays into which the handle material is molded.

Does anyone have any info on this knife?

Yep, another example of a depression era patent, trying to cut costs. Nobody did it better then Imperial. These actually pre-date most of the shell handle patents i've seen. You don't see many of them, so I think it was a pretty short lived process.
Looks like Colonial picked up on it somewhere down the line, I have a couple of Ambassador fob knives built like these. I'm pretty sure they were built by Colonial, but later on in the 30's or maybe early 40's.

Case even made one similar that Steve Pfeiffer said they sold usually as a skeleton.
Here is a link to the thread where I posted it and Steve's answer to me telling me about it.
This one is not a Scout, but it seems to use a similar process on the handles.

Now that you mention it, I remember reading that. I'll bet the Case is a much better built knife then the Imperial/Colonial versions. I like that Case, it'd be neat to put together a collection of all the different handle materials Steve mentioned.

It might be, but I like the handle material on the Imperial better. It doesn't show all the scratched like the Case does.
I will also bet you the Imperial takes and holds an edge better.
