More yard work today and then some fishin' this evening. Here's what I'm packin' for the chores along with my Gerber needle-nose multi-tool.

I'll most likely be carrying my Case ol' yeller canoe and the Bear & Sons sharpfinger with the Gerber multi-tool when I take my Fenwick ultralight for a walk this evening.

OOOOOOO! Beautiful Schrade!!!
I have no trouble at all seeing why you would make that an EDC!
But now I have to start my chores with a bad case of Schrade envy!!
Thanks for the well wishes! They haven't been bitin' much down in the creek so far this year but as long as I get my line wet, I'm happy. The dog will have a good evening romping in the grove on the bank as well, so it's all good.

Here's a genuine, made in the USA, Buck that's getting the call for vest pocket duty at church this morning. It's been around the block more than a few times and still has plenty of snap and holds a good edge.

Great knife Scott, if it were mine it would also see some serious pocket time..
Charlie, lovely Buck that you can see it's worked but also been cared for well. Do you know, is that one of the models that Camillus made for Buck at one stage?

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I'm not sure. I'm still learning the history of the different cutlers. It was a gift in the early '90s so it was probably made between 1990 and 1995. Is there a way to determine if it was made by Camallus?smokepole wrote:Great knife Scott, if it were mine it would also see some serious pocket time..

I been thinking that little Rem Doc is Camillus built. I had a 25th Anniversary Bullet that
was Camillus built and it had that same bone on it.

[quote+"Sasquach"]Is there a way to determine if it was made by Camallus?[/quote] Charlie, I am still learning too, but I seem to recall reading a thread recently where one of the guys here explained in detail - I think firstly it has to do with the time frame, but then also with the shape of the scales, the pinning etc as some were built by other cutlers for Buck too. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

That's one of the biggest reasons I started posting here, Smokepole. To share what knowledge I have and learn from others. And.........of course........I like to show off my knives!
I just have to ask, does your screen name indicate that you are a muzzle loader enthusiast? I ask because that's what I call my black powder rifles....smoke poles.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Garddogg and IM, those are some fine looking knives!
I like Remingtons. They are being made in China in some instances now though. I found out the hard way when I ordered a Remington canoe from SMKW. I was not happy when it arrived and I saw that it was made in China!
SMKW made no effort to inform buyers that it was not made in the USA. I found that a bit dishonest and have had a problem with them ever since. I think they should list the country of origin in every ad so the buyer can make an informed purchase.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
About ten years ago, a fella posted on BF that years ago, Camillus made a Doctor knife but I've looked at a lot of Camillus knives on eBay and have yet to see one. In fact, all the way back to the 1946 catalog, I don't recall running across one in their catalogs. I asked because quite a few Remingtons are being made in China now and even though dogg's pictures are a tiny bit blurry (no offense intended) this Doc has a flavor about it that made me ask about the country of origin.

Well, I know you all know what TGIF means but now we're about to arrive at ASIM!
Tomorrow morning I'll be headed back to the grind and I'll be packin' my two Tidioutes and my Gerber multi-tool. I just can't say enough about how much I like those GEC knives. Here's a couple of other American classics I'm liking a lot too. Too bad I can only take one of them to work with me!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Just got back from a weekend in Vermont helping my uncle open up his summer camp. Took the new Opinel 10 and man, this thing is a keeper. It's big. Too big for EDC pocket carry in the suburbs, that's for sure. But, still within reason for pocketing when working outside. It's about the same size as my Buck 110 but much, much lighter. I don't like pocketing the 110 and hate wearing it on my belt. But the Opinel 10 hit's the sweet spot and man o man, it sure is nice to have properly long blade and properly long handle in my hands. Used it to cut out some brush, cut up kindling for camp fires by the water each night and used it in the kitchen (not a sharp knife in the camp). I think the 10 is going to take up permanent status in the PDA case.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
It was a first for me too Jonnie. I bought it because it looked to have some age on it and I had never seen that combination of blades on a knife before. The handle coloration struck me as unique too. I seriously doubt that it's one of a kind but I suspect it was a short lived production. Maybe someone browsing the forum can give us some more insight. I picked it up a few years back at a flea market with a couple of other old knives.

Judging by your screen name, you're a black powder buff too. Am I right? Well, here's a pic of a knife I made from an old saw blade to use as a patch knife. I modeled it after an old green river pattern and used white tail antler for the handle.
