can someone please tell me what years rem used the circle with umc inside on the scale.

Remington really only made their own pocketknives between 1920 and 1941, although they made a TON of knives. Do you have a particular pattern in mind? If you are talking about the circular primer end of the cartridge, it looks like it was used between 1920-1939.

But it has been used since on reproductions and modern knives.

HI BILL
DONT KNOW WHAT THE PATTERN IS CALLED, IT ABOUT 4" CLOSED,
MULTIPLE BLADES, ONE OF THEM SAYS MAKE SURE GUN IS UNLOADED BEFORE REMOVING CHOKE ANOTHER IS A BLUNT ENDED PUNCH OF SOME SORT, ANOTHER A LONG CLIP WITH REMINGTON ETCHED ON.
THE CLIP HAS A CIRCLE ON TANG WITH A THREE LETTER INSIGNIA (UMC) INSIDE. THE SAME MARKING IS ON THE PRIMARY SIDE HANDLE. I DONT HAVE IT YET, ITS QUITE A BIT OF
DINERO, HENCE THE QUESTIONS. I THINK THERE IS ONE OR TWO MORE BLADES. ITS NOT PERFECT BUT I THINK ITS AN NKCA EXCELLENT. ANY IDEA AS TO WORTH IF MY DESCRIPTION IS CORRECT. NOT LOOKING FOR PERFECTION JUST A BALLPARK.

Sounds like one of the knives with a choke tool (or maybe 2).
I'd NEVER give input on a value or purchase without handling a knife, or at the very least, pictures, and I'm just a collector/accumulator...sorry.
If it's a lot of $$, you may want to get an appraisal from someone like Bernard Levine...

Sounds interresting. Is one blade a choke tube removing tool maybe? The choke reference might help date the knife. I'm not sure that they made guns with choke tubes pre 1941. I don't know that with any certainty... Just trying to put together any possible clues

No pattern number on it?

THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU. SORRY I HAVE NO MORE INFO, ITS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT YOU DONT WANT TO SCARE THE SELLER OFF, TOOK ME A COUPLE OF HOURS OF LOOKING AT JUNK JUST FOR HIM TO SHOW IT TO ME. HE IS ON A TWO WEEK SESSION OF WORK ON A TUG.

Here are some knives with the choke tool, and the circle, but not a cartridge, shield, does it look like either of these?

If the knife has synthetic scales (Delrin), it was probably made by Camillus, after 1980...maybe even more recently.

If it has bone, stag, or other handles...???

I can't find a true Remington made knife with a choke tool, in any of my reference material. But, that's just from researching with the information you provided, and doesn't mean it might not exist...that's why I suggested an appraisal.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.
