Schrade Fire and Ice Shield.
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark
Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Assorted federal shields, first two are Schrades, Keen Kutter, Cahllenge cutlery, Cutt. catlery, Camillus.

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Thank You!
I like the detail in it and the fact that they hid the pins that hold it on so well

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Great looking knives Rocky! I especially like the stag Solingen , second knife in the first picture...with the red shield with the buck's head on it, very nice! That would be one to show off around the table in deer camp. Who is the maker on that one? Any chance you have a pic with the blades open?

Finally found one of my buffalo head shields . I should have put something in the pic for size reference (it's about the size of a penny) .

Thanks Mike! This is a Premier edition Red Stag 1 of 300 this is #69. Made by Goodwin Cutlery in Chattanooga,Tn.
Beautiful knife! Don't know much about this Co. if they are based in U.S. and had them made in Soligen. Maybe we'll get a hit on this and find out more.

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Phew, that is one classy lookin' knife there Rocky! Even got the Red Stag on the main blade... Can't say I've ever seen Chatanooga on a tang stamp before! Outstanding looking stockman. Would be interesting to find out the Solingen-Chatanooga connection...

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
I think I might have posted one of these before, but when Bob posted the shield, I thought I would show a couple of the knives that go with them.
With the big day fast approaching, I haven't had much time to post this week.

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Bob, didn't Blue grass Cutlery use a shield like this on some of their reproduction Winchester knives? I think I remember seeing a large 2 bladed Winchester trapper with a shield something like yours.robinetn wrote:Finally found one of my buffalo head shields . Rocky, the red handled Souther States knife at the top in the second picture, who made that?

I found a current made Winchester large Mountain Man Bob that has the shield like yours. So Blue Grass used them.

Re: GOT SHIELDS?
Aimus, sorry it took me this long to respond, that would be made by Schrade, back of main blade stamped SS2.
