My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Got this one the other day, Schrade Walden 2OT.
I know it's not mint but it's mine. ::ds::
Not too bad really for it's age, couple of cracks on pile side and
can't read tang stamp, but can read the pile side 2OT. ::groove::

This little 12OT arrived couple days ago.
It's a SCHRADE U.S.A. 12OT with etched blade.
Says " Compliments of Schrade Cutlery 1992." With rope edged OLD TIMER shield.
When it arrived the blade was coated with like a preservative oil .
I washed it in warm soapy water but has left some staining, any way to
clean this without erasing the etch. Or is this just patina starting.

Another little fella that I got couple of days ago.
Schrade Walden N.Y. U.S.A. 718
Got cracks at the centre pins and some clown tried
to sharpen it with a 9" grinder but it's mine.
Had to do a lot of oiling to get the blades to
open and close with some snap. ::dang::

Gary , i have used renwax in the past on etched blades and still do , as long as you are gentle and the staining isn't too severe , it will remove very fine surface rust and fingerprint stains without damaging the etch whilst applying a preservative to the blade.
hope this helps,mark

What is it with Schrade and Australia? There are only three Aussies on the board (that I know about) and all three are Schrade heads. This is not a criticism, just an observation that makes me go "huh?". ::shrug::

And look at the price of this 12OT, selling from where else? Australia. :) (for after the auction is no longer available - Seller is asking AU $90.00)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schrade-Pal-Old ... 2ebc8fe80b

Edit: Two NOS w/box and paperwork sold here on eBay within the last two months. One for $20.50 and the other for $31.55.

Jerry, Thanks for the compliments, we Aussie's just know quality knives
when we see them ::ds::
But, all jokes aside, I got the 12OT, as with most of my SCHRADES, in the USA.
This one was $29.00 plus $7.00 post.
But does make you wonder, 3 members here and all collect SCHRADES.
Must be something in the water.

Jerry,
I have 3 more Aussie customers that I do custom work for; while we correspond via email & they read AAPK, they may have posted once or twice between the three of them. The only reason I know about them is they contacted me about some repairs & custom work.
They all complain about the Chinese junk they get there.
(BTW Jerry, one is a Vietnam vet also. Those Aussies in Nam were good troops!)

A question for you Aussies, do you have any Australian companies who make production knives in Australia (like an Aussie version of Schrade or Camillus)? I have always wondered. ::shrug::

no aussie knife producers down here Dale although we wish there was , apart from a few custom knife manufacturers that are making some quality gear the rest is indeed cheap chinese junk that is way over priced. So i guess thats why there are so many Aussies collecting American made knives.I also have a small collection of case , camillus and remmingtons, about 40 in total , and also have about a dozen canal street but Schrade takes up about 95% of all i have.Cheer's,mark

Is Fosters really as popular in Australia as it's advertised to be by state-side commercials? From the commercials I see on TV, you would think Fosters was the national beer of Australia.

Anyhow , here's a set I just picked up.......just gotta find the 502SC (152) in the nautical pattern to top it off
