Here is a link about some Al Mar knives and history that went on a couple of months ago, some good reading.
I would say Orvet may be your best bet for info on Al MAr.

Someone posted this over at bladeforums
Someone posted the following over at bladeforums . . . is it accurate?
These were produced when Al Mar still ran the company. It was designed by Randy Wanner of Hwa Rang Doo fame, and Bob Taylor. The knife was mainly used in a reverse grip style, with the plain edge used for sweeping cuts, while the back edge was used for defensive moves.
The original knives were designed in the late 70s, and made by a few custom makers. Later the design was brought to Al Mar, I'm not sure when he first started to market them, but it was in the late 80's-early 90's, and continued through the late 90's.
There were three versions:
A camo version that is very rare. a blacken version, and the commonest polished version. The polished version sells usually in the $275-350 range in mint condition.
A smaller version was later offered through Bob Taylor and REKaT as the Hobbit Warrior.

I just realized something
This is a pocketknife forum, and this isn't a pocketknife. That just crossed my mind . . . hey, I'm a little slow sometimes. Bear with me; at least I can admit my weaknesses.

we have a fixed blade section. i'll move your post there. maybe more al mar knowledge from there. i'm not into fighting knives but some are very nice. i prefer my .45 for self defence.
