Help with Presto Letter Opener

Post by ozzie marie »

I have recently added this Presto Letter Opener to my collection. In my opinion it is in really good condition but it dose have some issues and I'm looking for some advice or direction from you folks here ::nod::

The blade will not sit all the way in the closed position. The blade as it sits in the photo is where it sits and can be locked. The spring seems fine to me because if I press the button and close the blade all the way and then release it, it will fire all the way to the open position where it can be locked.

Your advice and direction is appreciated ::tu::

The sear is worn or the recess in the blade is worn (maybe both), Ozzie.

if it's locked in the closed position in that photo you definitely ave a worn/chipped tang. It's not an easy or cheap fix but it can be done. How does it lock up when fully opened?

MM,

In the fully open position the blade locks as new/normal.
