Hi to all,
I just buy this knife in Mexico for a really cheap price.
I dont really know alot of buck knives I know more about Case Knives but i saw it and it was pretty cool and it was in good condition.
So I just wanted to know more about this knife, when was it made? whats the estimate value on one of those?.
Thanks for your help!!

Re: Buck 317
I've got a Buck 317, had it for years. Haven't used it but a few times to skin a deer or two. It did the work and if I wasn't so attached to an old Queen folding hunter, I might use it more often. There is at least one on E-bay now at $46 with several days to go. Somewhere I read that it may have been made by Camillus, not sure(don't want to start a rumor). It's a well made, heavy duty folder. The only complaint I have is the secondary blade sits very low in the frame and is difficult to open and it came new like that. I'm sure someone will chime in with the info you asked for. Treefarmer

Re: Buck 317
Yes the 317 was contract made by Camillus for Buck. The 'Trailblazer' was made from 72 thru 1989. Found in two common versions. The first will have BUCK, Made In U.S.A., stamped on the tang and the second version will say BUCK, 317, U.S.A.. A couple of variations of the second will include special order issues by Smokey Mountain Knife Works with printing on the blades and a very few with a serrated secondary blade were also made. Prices remain firm on this big ole knife. Usually 50 to 100 depending on quality and version.
Yours looks to be in the 50 + range.
I have no idea why they are popular, one theory of my own is they look good with black motorcycle gear so maybe Harley guys like to wear them ?

The first knife with really small rivets in the scale was one of the first dozen made as
a salesman sample.
