Nah, i'm glad I held off. IH is good people and I wouldn't have wanted him to get something that wasn't what it appeared to be. The knife is what it is. This way there's no harm, no foul. I've got a buddy that's into horseback trail ridin'. I'll probably just fix it up and give it to him.

WB, this type of knife is problably around for quite some time,yours could well be 80+ years old or even more.My father(80+)worked with horses in his younger years,as I showed him the knife he thought it more a farmer's knife than a gardening device.However this kind of knives show up on the German and French Ebay,they vary in builtquality.I wish I could be of more help.Perhaps someone else with more expertise will chime in.Gus

Square bolsters, steel liners, steel pins and the age on those wood handles should let you know it wasn't sold in the recent past or maybe even in the medium recent past. It's certainly not a knife someone is going to counterfeit.

Hey Gus, you've been very helpful and it's greatly appreciated.
I guess the jury is still out a little on this knife, not sure if i'll ever be able to track down many specifics, but with tendots posting of one just like it on the Ebay France site, I now know it's NOT going to be one of those OMG knives we all hope to come across at some point. No biggie, better luck next time. Most of the thrill is in the hunt anyway, right?
