German Eye Toothpick

Anybody like German Eyes? I got this little toothpick in a couple of days ago.

I have an old Carl Schlieper knife with a broken backspring and one broken blade. The one remaining blade is excellent carbon steel. I have been keeping it, hoping eventually to figure out a way to fix it.

Your knife is a beauty.

Do you know if it is carbon steel?

Very nice knife James, I for one like German Eye and appreciate the fine quality..I have owned several.

Orvet I do believe that all German Eyes are carbon steel, which makes me appreciate them even more..

Thanks Sunburst for the info. I don't know much about them, but I can feel the quality in the steel. It just feels like good steel, I guess there is something about the texture of the blade.

I really can't describe it, but do you know what I mean?

I also think it is carbon steel. Razor sharp too

I think a German Eye would make a good carrying knife.

hey james, i've had several eyes and they are fine knives. this is the only one i have now. great carry.

I know exactly what you mean...It's all in the feel and look of the steel..

Eye Brand has a stainless line also. But you sure can't beat that hammer forged carbon steel. Hammer forging smashs those molecules closer together giving the blade extra toughness. They sure take an edge & keep it longer than a blade that has been ground or milled to remove the metal that tapers down to the edge. Bulldog & other brands that are made in the Bulldog plant are also hammer forged.

Well I stand corrected

I have never seen a stainless steel Eye brand and have asked a lot of folks...Evidently I needed to ask the "right" folks..

I still highly recommend them and terribly miss a 3 bladed jigged bone trapper that I never should have sold..

That's a "purty" one James, I like the whole setup of that knife with the stag and nice etching.

Them is some good lookin eye balls boys!
Here is a stainless stag mini trapper. On the blade etch it says Surgical Stainless, and on the back of the tang on the back blade it is stamped "Rustless". I'm sorry it's a little hard to see I need to practice more on my photography.

The more you read here in old post about photos the more you will learn.
I am new here too and still working on nice photos. It takes PRACTICE, PRACTICE. and more testing, and PRACTICE. Read some old post about photos this will help you lots. OR ASK many will step in and HELP you.

I see by your knife you will fit in here just fine.
