CASE BROTHERS LITTLE VALLEY 6250 Toenail Rogers or GreenBone

3-7/8" Date stamp on both front of mainblade and back of secondary blade. Back of mainblade has "TESTED XX" stamp on tang. Mainblade is double pull and secondary blade is long pull. Bowtie shield.

Looks consistent as far as blade shape, stamps and shield to the pics I have seen. I have seen a few different pics of the nail nick on the mainblade (not the long pull) and position seems to vary slightly but a few look consistent with this knife. Heads of the handle pins on the front look buffed off or have been replaced. Any thoughts? Thinking maybe buffed off as when viewed thru magnification, top of pin is even with top of jig scale. No blade wooble and handles are tight. Obviously been cleaned at some point by a previous owner. But as they say "You gotta run what you brung".

Main question is that quite a few pics I saw in Sargent's book stating "Rogers" for handle pictured similar to this knife and era but it looks like green bone to me. Any info or pics of example knives for the Case Brothers era Rogers bone?

Also, what the heck is the difference between an "Elephant Toe" and a "Sunfish"? Same thing?

I think all Elephant Toes are actually Sunfish.

I'm definitely not an expert,but I thought Rogers bone pattern was random wavy.Miller Bros has a picture of a rogers bone slab in his gallery.It's under miscellaneous knife edge? I think.

As far as the bone goes, that what I thought too. No expert here either. If you look at Sargents 7 edition, page 52 and 53, there is quite a difference in my eye on how the handles look that are defined as Rogers. Also, 1 pictured in Bradford era on page 131.

As far as toe vs fish, hopefully some others will chime in too. I thought the were the same also, maybe they are. Have not done a lot of research but it may be related to frame length. See reference to toe for the 3-7/8" model and the longer ones seem to be referred to as sunfish. Just a guess from a quick look though.

The Sunfish and Toenail names are one in the same. The length varies on these big guys, anywhere from 3 7/8" to 5" plus on the heavier swell center toenails.
