Thank you for those kind words. I was looking out the kitchen window while home at lunch, and liked the way the sun was shining on the blue bird house. So, I naturally grabbed the camera, stuck the WO in the side and took a few shots.

By the way, I saw the first blue bird in our yard yesterday. Glad to have them back.

Found another helpful duty for the
EDC SAK Cadet this week while doing
some long overdue interior painting.
In addition to usual cutting chores, screw
removal, & pry open paint cans turns out
the nail file is perfect width to fit & operate
latch's square hole if/when the need arises.

Love the SAK, I carry my Tinker daily. It never ceases to amaze me the uses I find for it! ::nod:: Here's a custom handled Case that I had made and only carry on special "suit wearing" occasions. :)

Sadly, my 18 mile lunch-hour ride today was the first time on the bicycle this year. I had my rainbow Leek clipped to one of my jersey pockets. When I got home I noticed how similar the titanium oxide finish on the Leek is to the color-shift paint on my Klein bicycle.

Maybe I subconsciously picked the rainbow Leek because I already had an affinity for the finish.

I wish I was still in Arizona. Uncle Sam has dragged me half way around the world and back since I left. But retirement is not too far off now and AZ is where I'll be headed. I was born and raised in the Phoenix area back when it wasn't such a big city. The last time I visited family I couldn't believe how huge the place had grown! I have a small piece of land near Prescott that I'm thinking might be a good place to build. I have some old friends who left the Phoenix area and now live in or near Tucson as well. You know what they say; you can take the boy out of Arizona but you can't take Arizona out of the boy. ::nod:: ::tu::

I carry several different knives on a daily basis, usually I have my Cold Steel Recon 1 on me along with either a Buck Vantage or Buck Odyssey. Other days I carry a Kershaw Blur Tanto along with a Kershaw Vapor. If I am going out then I have either a Kershaw Crown I will take since it's more of a 'gentlemen's' style type of knife or my Piranha Bodyguard auto (luckily they are legal to carry here and I also have a CCW permit). Sometimes, I also carry a small knife on my belt, either a CRKT AG Russell 'Sting' integral or a Schrade Push dagger. I also have an Imperial Schrade Old Timer Pocket Beast 470T which I also carry off and on depending on what I am doing that day? I like variety and I figure might as well have fun!

Whoa. Bikes and knives. Great combination!!

Is that a pre-Trek Klein? I didn't follow Klein too closely and definitely no longer follow Trek anymore. For the non-cyclists here, Klein went to MIT and figured out how to weld fat aluminum tubes and to control alignment of the frame. Today, you see that sort of design everywhere. A real innovation. 'Course, looks like Doug's is carbon and that's another story.

Doug, did you ever see the Rivendell Speedblend tires? Wouldn't be as zippy as those PR3s, but would keep the color blend motif going. http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-3773699254 ... 2_17276313

Taking the knife/bike connection in another direction, here is a traditional French knife on a traditional British saddle on a traditional American lugged steel frame (made out of traditional Japanese Cr-Mo). The frame is a 79 Trek 510, handmade in Madison. This was back when Trek was worth following. There's a connection here to what's happened to Schrade and Camillus but I better start before I start to rant.

In any event, the Opinel #8 is my preferred carry when on the bike.

Today, I'm trying to work. The Ulster Camper is in my pocket and #9 in the PDA case.
