Hi Aussie, You learn something new everyday, at least on this site..
I thought the matchstrike was just to fancy the pull up a bit.
Still got a couple of tins of wax matches but haven't tried them on a knife.
We used them a lot in the 60's.
Just got this in the mail, Schrade USA 5UH.
I like the handles a lot.
Gary.
Cheers

Here's another beautiful Schrade.
SCHRADE 7OT. With papers and sheath.
You'd want to eat your greens to carry this
on your hip all day.

Re: My latest Schrade
My Old Timer collection is slowly growing on the small and medium end. Recently found the 108OT (bottom) in a knick-knack store while searching for my wife's birthday gift, the 33OT was won on e-bay and came in yesterday's mail (just love jack knives); they join the Ulster "Prince Albert" 58OT shown in the middle.
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

I picked this one up off ebay. A real Schrade classic, a 163 pattern rope knife. No hint of elegance about this thing, just pure work knife.

Gary - I like these little Schrades. Try turning the flash off on your camera and take pictures outdoors on a neutral backround. I do best when I am out early in the morning or late afternoon on the shady side of the house.ringergary wrote:Another one in the bag.

Re: My latest Schrade
Nice looking Schrades guys! I like that yellow Craftsman Keith, looks really heavy duty! Here is a great old 1983 Schrade 2941 Heritage Trapper...Hard to tell from the pics but it is brown bone, it is more visible in the second pic... pretty slick. High quality knife, great user, been getting lots of compliments on it. Was able to score it for under $10, as it is not in perfect condition, but I like to put my knives to work, so it is perfect for my purposes, good snap and no wobble. My first bone handled Schrade.

I picked up this little 108 OT yesterday along with a couple of other dollar specials. I allready have this model, but the knife is in new condition. With the box and all papers included, it was worth spending the $10.00
