Its a jungle out there!
So in an effort to retain as much good juju as possible, each morning I make the treacherous hike down the dark and treacherous staircase, into the mysteriously treacherous living room, and there pirched high atop a treacherous coffee table I present my EDC to the three high preists of Bubblyonia and ask for their blessing and protection from all kinds of treachery, and to bestow my pocket knife with the power to sever any connection I may have with any treacherous forces. Then I practice the bizarre and rarely seen ritual of the eating of the breakfast, which this morning included an orange, 2 pieces of toast with butter, and some coffee. A very treacherous meal indeed!

I picked up a sorry looking little Sod Buster Jr. the other day. It had been tipped and dipped, so I re-profiled the blade to a spear and rubbed the handles out with a wore out plastic scrub pad till it had a flat mat finish. EDC goodness.

Sodie Jr
Did a power change over at the old YMCA I got to disasemble the 90yr old slate board, the slate is worth more than the copper.
The old Buck is so tough it replaced the 60amp fuselink
and I was carring a Barlow

So, I picked up a 2 dot Buck 112 for cheap the other day.

I've owned a 110 since the 70s. It's a hunting knife and I undeestand the clip point is a part of what makes it good for that. But, I never warmed up to it for EDC or shop use.
I've been carrying and loving Opinels for years but again, don't care for their clip blade, so I file them down to a drop point.
Same experience with the cute Camillus jack my brother in law gave me. Just can't warm up to the clip point.
So, I recently picked up a used 112 with the hopes of someday getting it rebladed. Well, first it turned out to be a 2 dot with a nearly perfect 440c blade. But most surprising to me, I'm loving the blade! Who'd a thunk it?
There's something about the shape that, when combined with the handle shape, makes it feel just perfect.
So now I have this 112 and it's heavier than I like (compared to my Opies), thicker than I like (compared to my 500) and with a blade shape that I'm very sure that I don't like and I can't keep that knife out of my pocket.
That's surprising to me.

Thanks guys, but it's a modest pile compared to others.
Interestingly, only 3 out of my 7 would work as fuse links. Hmmm....
Gardog, that's a shocking (ahem) use of a knife that I hadn't considered before.

Johnj, I really like the reprofiling job you did on that sod buster jr. Looks better than the original blade configuration to me.

Thanks. Here's the funny thing about that picture. I was trying to find some neutral color background to take indoor shots, when I looked over by the fireplace and saw at the bottom of a stack of books, this one: "If You Give a Moose a Muffin." The gray boards of the book worked out quite nicely. If I just had a way to diffuse the light I'd be on my way to some good pictures.

Hey. G.D.
I think sombody bent the handle to your flat corn scoop.
Hope it don't break when you straighten it.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Wow, Doug!!! What kind of wood is on that Northfield? I've been digging the GECs that Johnny has been posting but yours bumps it up a level for me. I'm really digging that handle!!! That's just wonderful looking!Doug Add wrote:Got these two in my pocket tonight, had 'em with me all day.
Garddog, please ship the snow south to Boston. I've sharped way more skis than knives in my life. They're more fun! But this year has been the worst ever. Really, really horrible. For those wondering, the collective noun for a collection of skis is "quiver" and my quiver is much bigger than my "pile" and that's saying somethin'.
Today's carry: Opinel #9 in RFP and Buck 500 in the PDA pouch.

Thanks Dave, it's cocobolo. I have a weakness for this wood, as all three of my pistols have cocobolo grips. When I saw pictures of the cocobolo 72 I knew I had to have one.

I'm certainly not a skilled photographer, but here are a couple others I shot of the cocobolo 72.

Definitely keep the snow where it is. I had way too much of it growing up in Indiana!
The morning sun tends to wash out the stainless of the 686, but you can get some idea of the wood grain. Here is the Northfield 72 along with a couple S&W friends. Both cocobolo grips are by Kim Ahrends.

Oh, and this is for comparison only. I'm not carrying all this today!
