help me please

my house was burglerized and unfortunatly they stole many many things, one of the many priceless thing that was stolen happened to be a 3'' ivory handle buck pocket knife that my great-grandfather recieved when he was 18 years old. he had gotten the knife in 1920 so there is an approximate date to manufature. if any one would be able to give me an estimated value of this knife i would be forever greatful. i just can not put a monetary figure to it because to me it was priceless!

unfortunately not, i feel like a dumb a** for not keeping better records of stuff. its just one of those things i never thought would or could be gone. but i realize now that it should have been the most protected things i had. atleast the dang thieves didnt get my guns and my family was not home when they broke in thank god. the scary thing is they broken my 14 month old daughters bedroom window. needless to say they win, im moveing. i work out of town every week and i could not sleep knowing my wife and daughter are there by them selves

Unfortunately it is going to be next to impossible to put a monetary value on the knife without pictures or a very specific description. One issue is that Buck didn't start making folders until 1965 and isn't known for ivory handled knives. I know that the term "buck knife" is used as a generic term for any kind of pocket knife, or practically any other kind of knife it seems, so perhaps that is the case with the one that was stolen. There were any number of manufacturers making pocket knives back in the 1920s, so that is what makes it really hard to identify and price the knife. Regardless, sorry to hear of your loss and very glad that no-one dear to you was hurt.

You could try browsing around on this site and see if you see anything that looks similar
to what was taken from you in such a disturbing manor.
(Lot's of pictures on here.)

Just copy any pic and post it here for info. as to what it is and when it was made.
Couldn't hurt.

ok done some more digging, my great-grandfather purchased the knife from a case maufacturer in georgia somewhere between 1920 and 1925. the knife was yellow (real) ivory handle with the circular case logo on the knife blade. and i will look for a picture on here and post it if i can find one. thanks to those who are trying to help me.

looks like this best i can remember but the handle was made of ivory. everyone in my family thats still around who was alive when he had the knife told me that he had bought the knife from a Case manufacturer in Georgia and that the handle is real ivory, not mammoth or imitation ivory.
