thanks for explaining the notch. i couldn't make it out as a swedge by the way the picture did a bit of trick photography..

that is a nice easy open robie... as are all of the easys posted here

I agree! I think it's neat that it has a Valley Forge etch & Boker blades. I hadn't seen that before? I think Valley Forge was bought by Boker, right?

I would have thought that the tang stamp would have been "Boker USA" rather than H. Boker Improved" since it was Boker USA that purchased Valley Forge. There is probably a family connection between the two Bokers, but did they also share hardware (blades) between one another? Or, did Valley Forge make blades for H. Boker Improved? Anyway, which-ever it is, it remains a very nice knife and I like it a lot.

Nice knives everyone.

Easy Opens just may be my favorite pattern, for size, pocket friendly EDC, and convenience of use.

A few of mine are :
#1 Battle Axe, Philadelphia. Great worm groove bone and logical but non-standard blade arrangement.
#2 Schrade Cut Co. Hard to beat bone on them old SCC's
#3 Two C.F. Wolfertz, Allentown, Pa. A careful Comparison with the SCC above proves that some PA. knives were really born in New York !
#4 Schrade Fishermans Pride. A bit large for EDC except for the back pocket.
#5 Remington R219 A nice solid knife and not as heavy as you might expect, but it just feels cold in hand compared to the others.

To make it even more difficult for Boker collectors, Boker USA didn't use the BOKER/USA tang stamp until after WW2.

ez's are, of course, my favorite pattern also, sure wish i knew how to post just a few of them here. my most recent addition is an old pearl, robt. klaas, purussia.

this is one of the worst designs for an easy open. unless you want to open both blades at once.

Pretty strange I agree, but it is probably easy to open either blade from that notch as I can not recall ever being impressed with the snap of any Colonial brand knife (though I am sure there are probably exceptions).

With weak to middling springs that easy open notch probably works just fine, but it does look weird.

Hey Dale, if you run into any of the older solid handle imitation bone handled Colonials I think you`ll be surprised at how good the snaps is (and the quality of the steel), though I have to agree with you about the cheaper made and later 1970`s and up models. I have a pretty old large stockman that actually has brass liners and a swedge on both sides to the tip(on the master clip blade) that would amaze you. A really well made knife. My wife will be getting some photos of this one in a few days. Take care.....and I just love what you are doing with those easy openers!

This is my only EO and one I share in common with Gino. I picked this up a few weeks ago at a road side thrift shop down in the country. This is a 1977 Queen Steel #62. It was in pretty bad shape when I decided to rescue her as a $5 toss in with the buy of a minnie trapper,(Kar-Bar) knife. After a little "dusting and cleaning" I think she turned out nicely
