CASE BROTHERS BARLOW TESTED XXX

Post by olderdogs1 »

I got this old tested case brothers barlow in a collection I bought. I am posting it to get some opinions on what it started life out as. Where it is stamped "tested XX" on the back of the tang there is an X in the center of the two double XX's that is not part of the newer stamp. I guess that makes it a rare "tripleX". Also under the new Case Brothers stamp you can faintly make out "made in the USA. The handles look brand new. Any comments are welcome. It is a good quality knife. Just not what it is pretending to be.

No part of that knife even remotely resembles any authentic Case made knife in any way.

My guess...made out of the old parts from UTICA. A Kutmaster blade would have been stamped:

KUTMASTER
UTICA NY
MADE IN USA

That would explain the "MADE IN USA".

Thanks, Steve
That would definitely make sense. The folks that put these knives together could buy a nice knife if they applied their skills to more worthwhile pursuits.
I appreciate your input.

That frame looks like what I call the "ice cream" knife.
