Need ID of Big Soligen knife

I posted this once, but got photo making advice(I need it) and no info on knife.Who can identify this maker and age?Knife is hefty 4 13/16" . It also looks as if there are measurement increments on the top mark side of the blade.

Well, I see your pictures have been viewed 165 times and still no answers. I'd say you have a truly old and obscure knife.

What I get from the stamp is a "woman and wheat". I did find a reference to that mark listing the owner as Herbeck & Meyer. See here page 51 http://www.archivingindustry.com/cutler ... arks-1.pdf I searched the H&M mark but could not find a woman and wheat, just the name. Best I can do. Good Luck

thanks Tom,It's these little mysteries that keep me thinking.

When you see that mark in person Tom,those are handles behind the shock or starburst(?) of wheat,in a criss cross,like the Hardin Wholesale Battle Ax brand.They are two hatchets,tomahawks,battle axes or tools.I believe that might be Roman numeral LI(51)? under the one on the right.It might be German for trademark for all I know too. I cannot really tell,but I think the heads on the handles may be made a little differentFrom each other too.

OK. It's kind of tough to make out what the figures are on either side of the bundle of wheat(?).

What appear to be "increment marks" are actually sanding/grinding marks left by the process
of cutting the flats. They weren't sanded/polished out on that blade.

Who made it?.... not a clue, but TJ seems to be on the right track.
Can you get a good pic of the stamp so he can further research it?
