WANTED: Full Imperial blades
Hay folks, I'm looking for blades for a 3 1/2" 2 blade Imperial jack.
Would like to find them as close to full as possible with GOOD TANGS. Say around 85% - 100%.
Light pitting and scratches are not a problem.
Either spear or clip with pen blade. Unstamped pen is normal.
Must have the '30 - '36 unabbreviated stamp:
Imperial
Providence R.I.
Thanks for any help!

Re: WANTED: Full Imperial blades
Hey Joe, If I'm not mistaken, I've seen Imperial blades of different thicknesses. I've seen some of your work, so I know you're aware of the tang/backspring tolerances, so did Imperial just make one thickness blade for that length during those years? I've got a few old Imp's and hope I can help. I just want to know exactly what to look for. My shop is a mess.

Re: WANTED: Full Imperial blades
Both blades on this one are both measuring right at .070, Bob.
The joint is around .130 deep from the blade spine.
I sure know what ya mean about the tang ware!
The springs are good and strong on this one.
Here's a pic of the handle I'm wanting to put back into action
(it's cleaned-up now, just waiting on blades) and a 150x pic of
Imperials typical tang ware on a different knife!!
Thanks, Joe

Re: WANTED: Full Imperial blades
Wow! After seeing the picture, I really hate to tell you that I gave at least one Imperial away Saturday that would've fit. The scales on it were nice so you might not have wanted to part it out. It did go to a fellow forum member and a great guy who (as far as I know) we all like.
I'll print-out your last post and take out to the shop and see what I''ve got. Sometimes I buy a batch of knives just for one knife and I (of course) hang onto the others. I've got several with a broken "insert useless knife part here", on hand, and now I have a source for some old parts for knives that I normally don't work on. No promises Joe, except that I'll look and I hope I've got something that will help.
