just aquired - any body know bokers?

just aquired. i believe this is an old boker. i think i can make out the boker tree on the rear of one tang. anybody know about old bokers and can help identify? 4 7/8" closed. brass liners, nickle pins. snaps like one of sunbursts gators.
anybody?

Glad to see your knife. I have one just like it that I was trying it ID. I do not see any marking on mine except the numbers 6500. I would also like to know when it was made. Good luck, Allan

hey allen, post a pic of it! i'm not sure it's a boker. the only reference picture i have shows a boker tree as part of the handle stamp.
but i think i see the 1900> tree on one of the tangs.

Hi johnnie and allan. That knife is not a Boker and what you thought was the Treebrand logo on the back of the tang is actually a four leaf clover. The front tang on both blades should be stamped "W. H. Morley & Sons Germany" and the backside of each tang is stamped with a four leaf clover. The knife itself dates between 1913 - 1927. Allan I dont know why yours has numbers on the tang (because there shouldnt be any numbers whatsoever) unless the blade has been replaced. I hope this helps you guys out.

that's ok ralph, i was actually lookin for a gator to turn into gumbo and boots, knife sheaths. sketching your tree was just a subtrifuge.

Hi johnnie. Maybe more than one company made those knives because I have the exact same knife as the one you pictured and mine is stamped morley with the clover leaf. Oh well let me know what you find out.

lots of cutlery companys made office knives. most are in this configuration. handle imprints are different, some only slightly. using my loop, it's definitely a tree symbol. according to the standard knife collector's guide, fourth ed. the tree i can see is the 1900-1924 version. blades are original to frame as far as i can determine.

This is an early 1900s Boker. Has reg. 1907 and the tree is quite clear if you enlarge the photo. Does it look similar to this one?

Good morning to you all, I have spent most of the morning serching the pages to see if anyone else had one of these little office knives made by Boker before I started a new thread, the reason I ask is that I have seen Office knives made by Camillus, Utica, Ulster and this little one I have by Boker and was curious as to how many companies made them, I heard of one made by Winchester but I did not get to see that one.
Now we have the W. H. Morley, any more ??

I love the ole Keen Kutter, there for a few years you could not pickup anything with the KK design on it with out it costing you an arm and a leg I wonder why things have slacked off on them.
My Office Knife has a little less fancy scroll work on it than some of them I have seen and I cant seem to find out when it was made, anyone know??

Johnnie I know nothing about office knives, as I don't have a single example in my collection BUT I do know enough about Bokers to know when I seen that tree you sketched that you have a Boker. The tree did change at least twice through the years and maybe 3 times but it is the tree symbol. The only book I have with any Boker information to speak of is Romance of Knife Collecting and here is part of what it says:

They adopted the tree brand as their trade-mark to represent an old large chestnut tree that stood in front of the old Remshceid Boker firm in Germany for hundreds of years.

This is not quote but a simplied explanation. I have Bokers with very many different tang markings but they ALL have the tree on the back. Hope this helps.

Maybe I need to increase my price.

I think there is someplace here on AAPK with each Boker tree logo and the dates/years used.
If not, just let us know and I/we will post it here asap.
