unknown imperial tang stamp on fixed blade knife
unknown imperial tang stamp on fixed blade knife
Hello! I was wondering if anybody has ever seen this tang stamp before. I'm trying to date the knife, but I haven't seen this stamp on any drawings or photos. Has anybody else seen it?
Thank you for your help!

Thank you!
I was thinking that too, but still, I've never seen that particular tang stamp before. Anywhere! Any idea why this is?

It is not on the chart I have but is similar to the stamp of that period. I think the fixed blade knives were slightly different when stamped, not the same stamp used on pocket knives due to the size

Googled in Imperial fixed knives and immediately came up with a bunch of knives with the same stamp like your knife has.
This one actually looks similar to your knife.

Hey! There we go! Thank you! I googled too, but was unable to find this!
I'll try to follow the link, but does that say, "1946"?
Also, the pocket knife of mine is void of the markings on the can opener. Again, any idea as to why?
Thanks for your help!

Cost saving measure, the only blade marked was the master blade.ruffbnme wrote:the pocket knife of mine is void of the markings on the can opener. Again, any idea as to why?
Here is a chart for the tang stamp and dates.

Thank you! I have seen this chart and that is the reason for the initial question.
And of the photos I've seen of the pocket knife, all have, "can opener" and a series of numbers. This can be seen in the pic "knives are quiet" sent me.
