Here are a few edged weapons from my collection. Not sure of their age but am pretty sure they go back a ways.
First up is a Chinese long dagger(or short sword). Sheath is lacquered wood made to look like tortoise shell.Fittings are figured brass.
Second is an old Chinese short sword in pretty rough shape.Has a wrapped ray skin handle with wire wrapping.
Third is a Chinese short sword. These normally came in pairs loaded in one sheath and were flat on one side.This one has a full blade.No sheath.

A huge sword of unknown origin with a handle made of one piece of horn and the blade inlaid with gold.
A keris from Java(?) with sheath.Probably 19th century.
An unknown knife;possibly African.

that second picture looks like a japanese police sword...or a japanese diplomats sword...{ i have a similar weapon}
the chinese did copy that style...mostly in the last few years to sell on ebay to unsuspecting people...
could you post a photo of the hilt?
is there a cherry blossom on the pommel?
