Thanks guys. Both knives are very, very nice but I'm leaning towards the Sway Back too.

I can't even come close to those, T.J. This little Richards Sheffield fob knife was in the mail today. It's a shell knife and in good condition but I didn't pay attention and when I bid on it, I didn't realize it's so tiny. Lil' sucker is only 2-1/8" long. I paid too much for it but that seems to be my modus operandi lately.

Hey Scott, that Imperial is a cool knife! Murph, you got some real winners there from Mike too!
Those Northfields take and hold a great edge. Hey Jerry, I use to own that very same Schatt you have there. Wish I hadn't sold it tho ::dang::

It is a beauty isn't it. It's almost exactly like the Boker I bought last year but the S&M beats the Boker by a country mile, especially in F&F.

My end of a trade with TJ: A vintage Helle 30 Jubileumkniven from the 1960s. This knife is a piece of art. 8 1/2 inches overall length, triple laminated full tang 4 1/2 inch blade with walnut handle ending in a diamond shaped pommel. Original Scandinavian style dangler sheath form fitted to the knife. I believe the knife is unused.

Thank you Tom, I love this knife! ::ds::

Thank you monk, I wish I could take good enough pictures to show this knife off. It's really something in person. Froggy was a valuable member here. I miss him. I've sent him a few PMs but no response.

Not a problem Mike. Glad you like it. It was a great trade all the way 'round. I'm happy, you're happy, just don't get no better than that. I think too that the back-stitching on the sheath is kind of an art form in itself. You save stamps Mike? Got two neat ones on this package from Helle.

Second is a Case Sway Back Jack in Chestnut Brown Bone - Another Sweeeeeeeeeeet one. Thanks again Mike.
Sweet knives, TJ! Just wondering, what's the length on this sway back? Reminds me of an upside-down Case Tadpole, looks like a Tony Bose knife too. ::tu::

Thanks!

TripleF,

Thanks bud.....these things got me jonesing for some more. I'm hawking over a couple auctions right now but if they don't pan out I'm likely to have one or more GEC's enroute. One likely another #85.

I picked this up at a gun show today in Mesa, Arizona for $20.00. It's a fixer-upper. Most of the crap you see on the scales is simply grime. The blade is loose but still fires.

What can I use to clean the celluloid without hurting it? Its got some shrinkage but doesn't smell. By the way, what does off-gassing celluloid smell like? Stinky, chemical-ly, rotten eggs? Could the scales then be referred to as "smelluloid"?

Does anyone know approximately when it was made? Any idea what a professional level restoration would cost? Sorry for all the questions but I am a new guy here.

Thanks

EDIT: Mods, should this be moved to Q & A's?

The middle Jack picture of the GEC...

Is that the same size as the little 3 inchers? Or a more normal 3.5-3.75?
