Trip, I don't know anything about you--more the other way. ;-)
Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)

It's hard for me to imagine Great Eastern Cutlery without Ryan and Ken Daniels. I've met both of them in person and they are both very friendly and generous men. To me they are the face of GEC.

Strange to think of GEC without them.

I'm wondering if Ryan will get to keep his "UN-X-LD" license plate.

All kidding aside, the company couldn't have had two better front men than Ryan and Ken Daniels have been. I wish them both the best.

I agree. Ken & Ryan Daniels are wonderful people. Ken was so gracious that day. He looked at many of the old knives in our collection. He is very good at "reading the knife". I valued his opinion highly.

A few weeks later, Ken sent me a Flash Magnifier & a hard copy of Gerald Witcher's book “Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery”, that was actually signed by the author. Ken is one terrific guy who has raised a good son.

Never met Ken or Ryan, but I do have this to share ...

About a year or so ago, I called GEC regarding a knife I had sent in to get tweaked, and Ryan Daniels answered the phone.

I asked for Chris, and he said she wasn't available, but "what can I help you with?", and the next thing I know he and I are in a long conversation about knives and quality and old fashioned values, and I don't know what all, and when I hung up it felt like I had been talking to an old friend. In fact my office mate who overheard some of it was amazed when I told him it wasn't an old friend on the phone ... Ryan was so easy to talk to and so genuinely interested in what you had to say, you could just tell this guy was good people. That phone call definitely left an impression ...

******Quote from Ken Daniels letter on GEC,web.site_______

Friends of GEC,
As of December 31,2011, I will no longer be involved in the operations of Great Eastern Cutlery. I have sold my shares of the company to Mr. Howard.

I have acquired the rights to Tuna Valley Cutlery. This tang stamp will be available for future endeavors. These knives will be 100% USA manufactured with various handle materials and specialty steels.

There should be some intersting knives, coming in the near future ???? :)

You can typically figure out what pattern an SFO will be by the place if falls in the schedule. Since this one is coming with a line of GEC branded 72's; my guess is a lockback this time. By the pictures, I would say a spear lockback.

They kinda left open the maker of the Tuna Valley; but GEC has the tooling for the tang stamps, etc. So if some other US company does make it, there will be an added start up expense -- although probably not prohibitive.
